| A few months ago, a breakthrough was made with the development of DVD's. Iomega Corporation announced their creation of 800gb DVD's. When one compares this capacity with the capacity of other discs, these new DVD's crush the opposition. CD hold ???roughly .68gb of data. DVD-R's and DVD+R's hold 4.7gb of data each. Dual layer DVD's, which is the media most movies are put on, can hold double that amount, or (for those of you not good in math) 9.4gb. For most people, this 800gb limit is much greater than the amount of data that can be stored on their PC's hard drive. How was this feat accomplished? The DVD uses nano technology and reflective nano structures on the surface of the DVD to allow many levels of data to be written. For the complete article, look here |
