UAP Hesper... a lesson in efficiency.

These are some pictures of what I used to do and the truck I drove...

This is it

These pictures were taken on one of the biggest jobs we do.... Becker Farms... Roger on the left and Lee is on the right.

Me and a BIG hill... these pictures were taken from nearly a mile way on the hill on the opposite side of the valley...

Another

One more.

Floaters

These are the three floaters... they are the machines with which the fertilizer is applied to the fields... they spread a swath 60 feet wide each... so with three running together we are taking a swath 180 feet wide at a time.... sure doesn't take long to spread alot in an awfully big hurry.

Roger the truck turning is on the left Lee is in the middle and Bruce is on the right.

Confusion

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the pic below.... Lee... "Mr Haskle".... is on the right... Bruce is in the middle...... and Roger is on the far left.
Now for the newest pics... The first is me unloading into Roger. Not sure where we were... I believe we were still at Becker's... on Thorton Rd. perhaps.
Mack, the coolest old man I know!! Thanks Mack... for everything you did for me!
This is my truck under the tower... and yeah... thats me!! The fertilizer is stored in over head bins, with pneumatic gates, it then drops into the scale where the precise amounts are added, then it is augered into a mixer where it is blended, and then augered back out and dropped into the truck via the unload shute. Take about ten minutes to load a truck, and about 20-30 to load a "train", thats a truck and pup, to those that was thinkin' that we loaded railcars... we get our inventory in on them but we do not ship out using rail...
Gettin' Loaded!!!
Well the last few days of January and the first few of February 2002 have brought on some exciting changes, a new Waconia 8 ton vertical blender arrived the 25th of Jan, and the following photos are testimony to the determination of "The Boys at Hesper". As if this job wasn't big enough, Ol' Man Winter waited till that exact week to show us we weren't as cool as we thought, in fact we were much much colder...
Here is "The beginning", the siding is off and oh yeah Thats me "The happy one".
The old blender had to come out first.
Then the old scale had to come out... In pieces.
Once the old system was removed we found the floor beams needed some work and since we were at it, we rebuilt the entire first two floors. Lots of cutting and welding, which was a welcome since it was the only way you could keep your hands warm.
The new blender arrives, Careful SCOTT!!!!!
After much deliberation and coffee swilling we lifted the blender to it's new home for at least the next twenty years. Next came the collection hopper and blender alignment.
The first load of fertilizer was loaded on the 7th of Feb 2002, not bad for a bunch of amateurs.
Pictures will be added as we get them online... please check back soon for updates.
