In August 2002 some of my family, and a couple friends took off on an extraordinary journey into the heart of Glacier Park in Northwest Montana. It covered 8 miles the first day going in on the Highline trail from Logan Pass to Granite Park Chalet, and 4 the second coming back out going from the Chalet down the Loop trail. I'm glad now that I had the chance to share in this beautiful hike, in July of 2003 the exact areas many of these pictures were taken from were ravaged by wildfire.

We documented the trip with some pictures that I would like to share with you...

This is the group getting ready to depart from the summit at Logan Pass. The trail we went in on is called the Highline Trail.

A scenic look through the Park.

About halfway in we had to take a lunch break.

We encountered some goats along the way that weren't quite as willing to let us lead the way as what we thought, and after 15 minutes of following them and being really worried... they let us pass.

Once we finally reached the Chalet, my mom and sister and I posed for a picture, and we also took one of the back of the Chalet. This was near where the garbage dump used to be where in the 60's they fed the Grizzly Bears so people could get an up close look at them. Note the balcony on the back of the Chalet, it was used as the viewing balcony.

These are the views from the Chalet... looking South and East. If you look hard you can see Logan Pass off in the distance in the second picture, and if you recall, thats where we started from.

Our "merry band" of travelers the morning we departed from the Chalet.

One last look at the Chalet from down the Loop Trail.
