DAY ONE

We were up early that morning, 4:45am, early. Kellys' father picked us up at our apartment and drove us to the airport. It was way too damn early, specially when our flight did not leave untill 8:10am. But, he was giving us a free ride, so I couldn't complain.

Got to the airport and were dropped off. Said out goodbyes and Kellys' dad was off, he had to be at work. Checked our bags in and got our tickets. Walked to the gate with plenty of time to kill. Found out that the flight was going to be an hour late taking off. DAMN, makes getting up so early even worse. Flight ended up taking off around 10am. Kelly was feeling bad all morning, she does not like to fly and her stomach was telling her that big time.

The flight went well and we arrived in Detroit at around noon. Kelly was feeling a bit better now. We picked our luggage up and caught a ride out to the Budget Car Rental. We were suppose to have a compact car, but they were out. So, instead, they gave us a free upgrade and we drove out with A Dodge Grand Caravan Sport Minivan. I personally hate minivans, but at least it was the top of the line minivan, and it drove very well.

Headed north from the airport along I-94, which brought into the northside of Detroit. Missed the turn-off for I-75 and had to get off the Interstate to make a u-turn. Finally made it onto I-75 north. One of my first impressions of Detroit was there are a hell of alot more people there then in Orlando. People in Central Florida who think there are too many people here already, trust me, it could be alot worse. People up there also seemed to drive alot slower. Anyway, we headed north out of Detroit, towards Auburn Hills, where Lars' lives. Do to my misunderstanding as to where the hotel was we missed it in Troy and were almost to Aurburn Hills before we figured it out and turned around.

The Hotel We Stayed At

Finally made it to the hotel and checked in. We were the first guests to check in under the special group rate for all the wedding guests. It was only $59 a night. We made it to our room and unpacked. We got in touch with Lars' but Kelly was feeling sick again so we decided not to see Lars' that night and chill at the hotel. After resting awhile we went for a drive and picked up some drinks and snack food at a grocery store. After getting back to the hotel, we ordered out for pizza and called it a night.
