Ironhide:

::Accept private comm y/n?::

Landmine:

:: .....Yes. ::

Ironhide:

::-slight pause, not sure what to call him since he has no designation yet- Hey.  You're the one Jazz picked up?::

Landmine:

::...Yes?::

Ironhide:

::Name's Ironhide.  I'll be teaching you how to defend yourself.:: -to the point!-

Landmine:

::...Defend myself?  From what?::

Ironhide:

::Enemies.  Which we have several of right now.::

Landmine:

::...:: *long pause* ::...If that is what I should do.::

Ironhide:

::Meet me at -these- coordinates tomorrow, at -random time- and we'll get started.::

Landmine:

::...::

Landmine:

::...Affirmative.::

Ironhide:

::No need to be so formal, kid. -slight chuckle-::

Landmine:

::...Formal?::

Ironhide:

::...the affirmative.::

Landmine:

::That is how Sector-7 personnel responded to orders - is there another way?::

Ironhide:

::...::

Ironhide:

::Sector 7?::

Landmine:

::Yes.::

Ironhide:

-another pause- ::You don't work for them anymore.::

Landmine:

::...That is where I learned.::

Ironhide:

::Did they know about you?:: -/has/ to ask-

Landmine:

::No.::

Ironhide:

-oh, good, he wasn't hurt- ::Right.  Well.  We're not as strict here, so you can loosen up.::

Landmine:

::...Okay...::

Ironhide:

::See you tomorrow, then.::

Landmine:

::Okay.::

And Two Days Later...

Ironhide:

-He's feeling a little apprehensive about this Sparkling, what with his association with Sector 7, even if it /was/ in the past.  Leaning against the wall of the training room, he crosses his arms over his chest and waits.-

Landmine:

*At the precise time of their arranged meeting, he shows up exactly where he was told to go, looking vaguely out of place, flexing his hands because woo, hands!  He also doesn't know who/what he's supposed to be looking for, so...*

Ironhide:

-There is a very bulky black mech leaning against the wall, looking at him!- You here for training?

Landmine:

...Yes.  *walks forward to stand in front of Ironhide, still flexing his hands a bit*

Ironhide:

-studies him for a few moments, then nods- Have you picked a designation yet?

Landmine:

......I'm not sure.

Ironhide:

S'a bit weird trainin' someone without a designation. -quirks an optic ridge-

Landmine:

....I'm temporarily assigning the name "Landmine" to myself, if that will help you.

Ironhide:

Works. -steps away from the wall- ...so.  How used to your bipedal body are you?

Landmine:

...I spent approximately a month in it before... Jazz came to meet me.

Ironhide:

Ah.  Right, then. -looks at him, debating- What made you leave Sector 7?

Landmine:

...The base was destroyed.  *sounding quiet and almost sad*  So I had to leave.

Ironhide:

.... -barely holds in a growl- You stayed with them of your own free will?

Landmine:

Yes.

Ironhide:

Why?  They were harming our kind.  If you had revealed yourself, they would have experimented on and destroyed /you./ -he sounds a bit shocked, confused-

Landmine:

They needed me, and I protected them.  Until they were destroyed.

Ironhide:

...and what are your feelings regarding us? -forcing himself to stay calm-

Landmine:

...*his optics shutter as he blinks up at Ironhide*  They hurt you, and you hurt them in return.  They had expected it.

Ironhide:

You feel no ill will towards us?

Landmine:

...I feel sorry for what happened to those I protected.

Ironhide:

Doesn't answer my question.

Landmine:

There were many nice people working there.  *as an afterthought*

Landmine:

But there may be nice people here, as well.  I wish I could have protected them better, but I couldn't.

Ironhide:

-looks at him, any anger he was feeling starting to dissipate- Hn.  Ever used any of your weapons? -let the training begin!-

Landmine:

Yes.  *the gun turret on his shoulder twists and clicks into place, locked on to Ironhide*

Ironhide:

.../don't/ lock on to me.  There are targets over there for that. -points at said targets-

Landmine:

*again with the shutter-blink, and takes a half step to look over at the targets*  Right.

Ironhide:

-folds his arms over his chest, going into teacher!mode- Now, I want you to shoot at those targets.  See how good your aim is.  Move over to the wall, as far from them as you can go.

Landmine:

*nods once, then turns fully and paces to the wall in equal steps, stopping and about-facing once he reaches the wall.  He takes a moment to lock his turret onto the targets, and he unloads on them, spray wide and slightly over-aiming*

Ironhide:

...stop.

Ironhide:

I don't want you to shred them, but to try and hit the centers of the targets.  Aim.

Landmine:

*stops immediately, looking at the mech for a long moment before nodding again, turning back to the targets*  Right.  *he pauses, then opens fire on one target, going for the center and not so much shredding it all, but off center a bit*

Ironhide:

Hn. Not bad.  Needs work, though.

Landmine:

*stands in a more at-ease position, gun swiveling away as he turns to look at Ironhide*  ...Work?

Ironhide:

-studies him, noting the wheels on his feet-

Ironhide:

Show me how fast you can move on those wheels.

Landmine:

*blinks*  ...All right...  *takes a moment to map out the fastest route across the training room before sliding into a starting position, pushing himself into a sprint and lurching forward at an already quick pace, speeding up and taking the center of the room at a decent clip before nearly skidding into the wall as he misreads just how much farther he has to go before he needs to stop*

Ironhide:

Fast.  Thought that'd be the case.  Though, rocky terrain would present a problem.  You need to work on stopping, too.

Ironhide:

-blunt!-

Landmine:

*nods*  All right.

Ironhide:

-decent weaponry, speed, aim isn't bad...what else is there to check?-

Landmine:

*walks back towards Ironhide easily, optics on the other with a guarded look*

Ironhide:

Hmm.

Ironhide:

Not sure what to do with you yet.

Landmine:

...Did I fail, then?

Ironhide:

...fail?

Ironhide:

There is no failing in training.

Ironhide:

Only getting better.

Ironhide:

-quirks an optic ridge-

Landmine:

...This isn't a performance test?

Ironhide:

No.

Ironhide:

This is me seeing what I have to work with.

Landmine:

Oh.

Landmine:

All right.

Landmine:

*looking slightly confused*  Then...  I didn't fail.

Ironhide:

No, you didn't fail.

Ironhide:

Come back in two days, same time, same place.  I should have something figured out by then.

Landmine:

...All right, then.  I will.  *frowns thoughtfully, then nods again*

Ironhide:

And like I said, no need to be so formal.

Ironhide:

I don't care about standing at attention or any of that useless slag.

Landmine:

...Okay.  *shifts back on his wheels a bit*  I'll remember that.

Ironhide:

You're free to go for today.

Ironhide:

-smiles-

Landmine:

*nods and then steps back* ...Okay.  I'll see you in two days.

Ironhide:

-moves forward and claps him on the shoulder gently on his way out-

Landmine:

*tenses at the touch then watches the other leave, turret clicking and locking on him briefly before going at ease*

Ironhide:

-doesn't miss this, but doesn't show any sign of it as he disappears down the hall-
