| **This is old, but it espresses how i felt, so i am not going to change it. Rest In Peice Reggie** Unfortunatly, Reggie will no longer be with us. He has had a lung problem for awile now, and he no longer enjoys life. Tomorrow, (11/20/01) will be his last vet visit. RIP Reggie, you were not with us for very long, but we'll always love you. Reggie is fairly new to our family, and he is about 7 years old, we got him last summer. He is a Basenji. I will be posting good basenji sites on my page as I come across them. For the most part, Reggie is very well behaved. He barks when he is very excited, or when dad gets home,and it is always a single "rouff". Its sort of silly sounding, and really cute. When it comes to begging he knows every trick in the book, its one of the few times thet he performs his wide varity of tricks, being "sit" and "shake". Anything smaller than him is dinner. I don't know if this is a trait of all basenji's, or just mine, He holds his head up very high, as do all basenji's. |
| Basenji's Originated in Egypt, and were (and still are as far as I know) used to hunt. I've heard that a pack of them can take down a lion, but I have not had that confirmed. They are now mostly bred as show dogs. There is genetic evidence that basenji's might have gained more of thier genes from the jackel, instead of the wolf like most dogs. One of the most visable examples of the similarity lies in the front two toes on a basenji's foot, they are connected, while a normal dogs toes are not. | 5/13/02 We have new puppies now, have had them since late Feb. We were only going to get one, but my family went to visit the puppies, and another one was bonded with, so we have two now. Their names are Spalding and Sasha, boy and girl, and they were born decemeber 15th. They are so adorable it almost hurts to look at them :) |
| 6/2/02 Spaling died. he was hit by a truck. it was in no way the truck drivers fault. He was about 5 months old, and as cute as a puppy can possibly be. All the love and sadness of hte family has been poured into sasha now, who despite the loss of her playmate and brother, is doing well. |

| 12/24/02 yes! im updating! long needed update.. this page has grown depressing. My pup sasha is ONE YEAR OLD. she is the cutest. atm she can "sit" if properly motivated. she is spoiled senslessly and loved to death. yes, pictures!!! they suck cuz i took them with my webcam and not the digital. but isnt she the cutest? atm we have plans of gettin another red female soon, currently "lady gwenivere" is the planned name. anyways.. look at pictures now. |
