Piers Anthony....

(this guy is my favorite author)
Have you ever read the "Authors Note" on a book? Do you do it regularly? Perhaps you should. I discovered first the master of words and images, Piers Anthony, then I discovered, lover of nature and humanitairian, Peirs Anthony.  I'm currently reading one of his books entitled "Letters To Jenny" which offers an even greater glimpse into the heart of this man while he writes weekly and gets to know a girl in a coma, who cannot even tell him "thank you". Anthony writes mostly fantasy, but also alot of science fiction.   From reading many of his books, I have found him to be my favorite author, and respect both his mind and his ability.  I first discovered him through a book in his Xanth series called "Centaur Isle". After I read that book, I had to have more. I quickly collected the begining 10 books or so of Xanth and read them all.  After awile, I went on to other books by him. It was then I started to read Authors Notes. Anthony is a lover life. In his respect for all living things he has taken up vegetarianism and lives on a tree farm.

Anthony's books cover alot of topics, but one thing I have noticed, is in many of his books (Mostly in Incarnations of Immortality and Tarot) he explores religion. I find it fascinating simply because he looks at religion from new prospectives, and adds new ideas.  His books are not religious, so don't think of it as a reason not to read them, in fact, I would reccomend his books to people who are NOT religious, simply because its more of a unique study on christian/catholic veiws. I personally found it to be intriging, and it greatly added to the overall "book expierence".

A Well Done Site About Xanth
An Introduction To Piers Anthony.
Anthony's books cover alot of levels as far as age, and levels of seriousness. His Xanth series is great for younger readers, being "clean" and is also very entertaining. Its fantasy opens doors for the youger mind, but is filled with puns that prevent the thought process from being overwhellemed. Of course, this series is just as great with the older readers as well (I still love it, hehe). His other books tend to be of a more serious nature, and dealing with more serious topics.  I personally have enjoyed his Tarot series, involving a monk transported
to another world to find out whats behind mysterious apperitions on a planet being populated by humans. This book is set in the future, when mankind has used up all its resources, and is reverting back to pre-technology ages. All the worlds resources are poured into transporting humans to new planets.  The world the younge monk finds himself in is called Tarot, and the apperations he seeks to discover the orgins of are beleived to be coming from god, or the devil. The apperations hold the secret to "who is right" in the area of religion, thus causing the monk many problems, both with aruging religions, and with conquring his own beliefs.  I highly reccomend this series, along with his other series dealing highly with religion, Incarnations of Immortality.
