A
profession is a self-regulating body of professionals possessing unique
skills that can only be mastered through long period of diligent training.
A profession develops its own skills, passes down its knowledge to
neophites, and regulates its members in the use of their professional
knowledge. This regulation is namely professional ethics, which prohibits
a professional from exploiting people through the exclusive possession
of the specific professional knowledge. Thus, this self-regulation
prompts the society and the professionals to co-prosper through their
mutual trust. |
