| Biography | ||||||
| Shana Scudders music career began at age two when she gave an impromptu Christmas concert in the lobby of her grandmothers apartment building. Not much has changed since then, although she did pick up the violin in second grade and toured the country and England with her youth orchestra. After graduating from high school, violin sadly fell by the wayside and, missing music terribly, Shana took up the guitar. She played her first open mic two years later in Brooklyn, New York and lets just say she gave a less-than-stellar performance. Ever the perfectionist, Shana was determined to improve on her humble beginnings, so after moving back down South, she began to do the rounds of open mics in the Roanoake, VA area and it was there that she first found out how vital a strong and supportive community of musicians can be to a young artists development. From there, Shana started booking some gigs here and there, while finishing college. After graduation, Shana got more serious about music, began playing more shows, and in July of 2003, recorded her first full-length, self-titled album. The album was recorded in Wilmington, NC with legendary producer and engineer Karen Kane. It is a sparsely solo effort, with just Shanas intense voice and modest guitar accompaniment. Shana does so much with so little, however, and she will certainly draw you in with rich melodies and pictures painted of snapshots of life and all its intricacies, and she will leave you with a heart full and breaking and the promise that she is an artist who you will hear much, much more of.
