Polaris Submerged

Submerge Your Boat

Submerging your jet ski is easy, if you forget to put in the drain plug. However, doing it on purpose is a completely different story. I have yet to see someone else pull one of these off! DO NOT do this without an electrig bilge pump of at least 500gph.

STEP 1: You want to start this trick while idling. It is simply too much effort to pull off a submarine on a moving/jumping four to six hundred pound jet ski.

STEP 2: Choose your area wisely! This means check surrounding traffic and water conditions. You don't want to put your jet ski three feet closer to the bottom of the lake in shallow water, and you definitely don't want anyone to run you over! Above all, be careful!

STEP 3: If you have it, trim down. Do anything you can to make the front heavier (if the gas tank is in front, its easier if the tank is full) Begin by moving forward against the handle bars, and lean into them.

STEP 4: As the front of the ski begins to disappear under the water line, continue to lean forward, applying weight to the handle bars. Apply some throttle to expedite the process.

STEP 5: If everything is going as planned, the ski is beginning to bite into the water and dive in at a downward angle. Now you have to decide, how deep is too deep?

STEP 6: As you get deeper, move back. I like to wait until the entire ski is submerged, handle bars and all. Slack off the throttle, and you will notice a tendency for the ski to pop out. The trick is to get the front end to lift, while maintaining depth. (afterall, you can't dive forever!) Do this by moving back and cutting the throttle for a millisecond. Once the ski has a neutral attitude, i.e. neither diving or rising, throttle up a little to maintain depth. Too little throttle and the ski will pop out of the water like a cork!

STEP 7: Your ski won't run forever under the water. Some stupid law of physics and engines requiring oxygen to run. But hey, that's ok! If you get 30feet of underwater riding, you're doing excellent. To pull out of the water, lean back and floor it. If you wait too long, lack of oxygen in the engine bay will kill the motor, and you will be floating back to the surface anyway. Don't forget to bilge your boat afterwards!

Well, that's about it. Go out and try it now! One thing though, people always give me the weirdest looks when I do this!

If you have any tricks to add, I will add them to this site. Just e-mail me a picture and a description!
