The Crown King Trail
This nice wonderful picture doesn't portray the trail very well. I would classify the trail as a medium difficult trek. It starts behind Lake Pleasant, and winds 5000 ft up the side of a mountain to an old town known as Crown King. Total round trip from Phoenix and back is about 130 miles, with about 25 of it being the actual 4x4 trail. It is a full days adventure, so pack accordingly. We stowed the following gear:
- Lunch, chips, and miscellaneous junk food.
- Six pack. Soda, not beer!
- Three gallons of water. I would pack more in the summer time.
- Tow strap.
- Miscellaneous tools.
- Extra jack.
- Flares, emergency equipment, and first aid kit.
- Flashlight, camera, and binnoculars.
- Spare tire, four bar, and fix-a-flat.
- Spare oil, anti-freeze, power steering fluid, and brake fluid.
- CB-Radio and cellular phone.
- Jumper cables.
Now, I have never needed any of the extra equipment I have brought, but in the event of an emergency, it would be extremely helpful.
