| The following letter is a response from Jon Miner to my comment that Law and Gospel are inseparable, and both are a vital part of Christianity. John Ybarra |

| John, I would agree with you up to a point, especially about the Law not being a bad thing, but I don't think saying we are UNDER the Law is the best way to say it simply because there are specific NT verses that say that we are NOT under the Law or indicate that something better than the Law is now available, namely faith in Jesus. Gal 5:18 - But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. Gal 3:23 - But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the Law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. How are we NOT under the Law? We are not under the Law in the sense of trying to be saved through following the Law. Men in the OT attempted to obtain right standing with God through the observance of the Law and didn't have much luck. Jesus brought a better way to obtain salvation (to be born again). Mankind can now obtain right standing with the Father by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Now, once we are saved and become part of the family of God, I believe the whole Bible is now opened up to us for our study and edification. *Study the Law, memorize it, meditate upon it, and follow it to the best of your ability, but just don't try to tie it in to yoursalvation. *Study about the Sabbath and decide that you wish to attend church on Saturday instead of Sunday if you felt led, but don't do it to be saved or claim others arent saved unless they do the same. *Read about the clean and unclean and quit eating pork, bottom fish and the like if you wish, but do it as part of your personal walk with the Lord, not because it's necessary for salvation. *Abandon Christmas and Easter and start observing the OT feast days if so led, but don't tell others that they have to do the same. *Call Jesus Yahweh instead of Jesus if you believe it appropriate, but don't do it because you fear for your salvation. So, I do disagree with your statement that the Gospel and the Law are inseparable. There may very well be a sense in which they are inseparable, but when speaking of our salvation they MUST beseparated because salvation has everything to do with the gospel and NOTHING to do with the Law Rom 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of Godis eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
