LAW AND GRACE
There are always people who are against Law, man's law and God's Law. We, as a people, want to be a law unto ourselves, above the Law. When we hear Law and Grace, we see them as opposites, contradictory.  Romans 10:4 Christ is the end of the Law so that there may be righteousness for everyone

Popular Doctrine teaches that the Law is nullified by Jesus Christ, that all moral obligations of the Law are no longer bearing on Christians. It teaches two Ages: The Age of Moses (Law); and The Age of Christ (Grace).

In the Old Testament, the Law was given by God through Moses. Torah = Law or instruction. The Law is God's instruction to us showing our duty to Him. Exodus 34:28 He (God) wrote the words of the covenant Exodus 20 the Ten Commandments Deuteronomy 4:13 He declared to you His covenant

The Law was given directly from God, directly to man. When I talk about the Law, I am speaking of God's Moral Laws.

Why love God's Law? Because it is the expression of His love to us. Psalm 119:68 You are good, and what you do is good  Romans 7:12 The Law is holy, and the commandments are holy, righteous and good

God and Law: Holy, Perfect, Spirit, Righteous, Just. The Law of God is a reflection of the character of God, the nature of God. It is not simply making arbitrary rules. It is an expression of who and what He is!

The Law is no more null than God is null. If we nullify His moral standards, we nullify Him! And God have mercy on anyone who tries to nullify Him!

God's moral Law is still binding an His people. It serves as a revelation of God's moral will, and as a motivator of obedience.

What is the relationship between Law and Grace? Romans 6:14 you are not under Law but under Grace Romans 10:4 Christ is the end of the Law.

Remember that we don't earn righteousness by observing the Law. We observe the Law because we are righteous. We are not free of the moral obligation of the Law.

In Romans 10:4 "the end" is the same Greek word used for "goal" (keep your eyes on the goal). Jesus is the goal of the Law. The purpose of the Law is to point us to Christ!

Paul is saying that we are not justified to God by the Law, and we are not under its condemnation. In that sense, we are freed from the Law.

Remember Romans 7:12, "the Law is Holy, Righteous and Good". It shows us our sin and leads us to the Gospel. Obedience is our expression of thanks.

The Law is not incompatible with Faith. Romans 3:31 do we make void the Law through Faith? God forbid!

We are to respond to the Law with Faith! And How does Faith come? Romans 10:17.

The Law is a doctor's prescription, not a job description! It is not incompatible with regeneration. It is not "I don't need the Law, I have the Spirit"! Psalm 37:31 the Law is written on our hearts Romans 13:8-10 love is the fulfillment of the Law Matthew 22:37-40 the greatest commandment

Both Paul and Jesus Himself tell us we still must follow the Law of God! They demolish the idea that we are freed from the Law. If moral Law was done away with by Christ, why even talk about it's fulfillment? Matthew 5:17 Do not even think that I have come to abolish the Law and the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them

We don't keep the Law to be justified. We keep it because we're justified! 1 Timothy 1:8 The Law is good if we use it properly 1 Corinthians 7:19 keeping God's commands is what counts 1 John 2:3-4 if we keep His commands Matthew 5:18 not one word will pass away

The Law gives us the means to express our love to God and to others. If we don't have it in black and white, we tend to follow our own vain imaginings.

Psalm 1:2 his delight is in the Law of the Lord Romans 7:22 In my inner being, I delight in God's Law.

We know what God wands of us because of His Law. It reveals our sins to us, and brings conviction of sin, to prepare the way for the Gospel. It shows us precisely where our sins are.

We won't see our need for Jesus if we don't see our sin. This goes for believers as well as unbelievers. We need our sin pointed out to us! 1 John 3:4 sin is lawlessness

We need the mirror of the Law so we can see where our sins are.

Live the Law through faith and the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:3-4 so that the requirements of the Law be fulfilled.

Jesus fulfills the Law through us. It reveals His character and His will. It reveals our need, and how to love for His glory, not our own.
Psalm 1:1-3

Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on His law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.

Amen
