| Golden Globe for best actor in a television comedy | ||||||
| "And the winner is... Tony Shalhoub, Monk!" Tony looks completely amazed, he stands, shaking his head. Friends and collegues pat him on the back as he makes his way to the stage. At the mike, he breathes out deeply, his face completely serious. "Uh... boy. I cannot begin to tell you... how much, I'd wanted to be nominated in the dramatic actor catagory." There is some laughter, and Tony rubs his forehead with his finger. "You know, for film." Louder laughter this time. Tony remains straightfaced. "Uhm, but I am... I'm overwhelmed and, um, I'm so grateful... I have so many things to be grateful for. The great people at USA Network and Studio." Applause. "The-the writers, and unbelievable cast to work with. Um, I'm forgetting a million people. I, um, I wanna thank my-my daughters, Josie and Sophie, who give all of this meaning... and, uh, especially, um, my wife, Brooke, who-who in spite of the fact that I'm a very slow learner, teaches me every day that all things are possible." The camera switches to Brooke, who is absolutely beaming with pride. "Huhhhh. And, um, um, I-I can't thank you enough! God bless you all! And God bless the planet Earth!" Applause. |
