Kogoro’s Story
Mouri Kogoro was a useless detective. His first job was a policeman, with Jyuzou Megure, but later on quitted and became a detective. Even though he was completely hopeless, he still opened his own office (something Shinichi lacked). Thanks to Conan, who helped Kogoro on many cases – by first stunning him with a mini stun-gun and then changing into his voice with a bowtie voice-changer and solving cases for him - Kogoro actually became a very famous detective!

About Kogoro
Kogoro seems useless and stupid, but you can tell that he loves his daughter very much and cares about her. He seems to dislike Conan and Shinichi though, because Shinichi steals his fame and Conan, to him, is an annoying kid that he has to spend money to take care of.
Kogoro is completely awesome at judo, and he has a perfect shot with the gun. He can sometimes amaze people with some intelligence, but that image is quickly replaced by his infatuation with the singer Miss Okino Yoko.

Friends & Family
Kogoro has a daughter, Mouri Ran, who takes care of him. His wife is Kisaki Eri, a successful and brilliant lawyer. However, they are separated, but they still care about each other. (It’s so obvious.) His friends include his former colleagues at the police department. In other words, Inspector Megure.
