| Mail Rumors -- 4/2/03 | ||||
| A nasty rumor that I'd like you to dispel for our families: I've heard that some folks are being told that we can no longer accept packages in the mail; this is not true. In fact, we have had no interruption in our mail service for any reason, and all our Marines truly look forward to receiving care packages from home. Sometimes it's slow, but it's always a big morale booster. Please advise our families and friends to keep it coming. Thanks. LtCol Phillip C. Chudoba Commanding Officer 1st Intelligence Battalion (Forward) I Marine Expeditionary Force |

| Talking to the Press -- 2/3/03 | ||||
| If by some chance something such as terrorism or POW status happens to our Marines, we are NOT to talk to any press. Simply say you have no comments. Any conversation with the press could make things worse overseas. Keep in mind we don't want to jeopardize our nation's ability to help them. | ||||
| Sending Packages -- 2/3/03 | ||||
| When sending packages overseas, anything over a pound needs a customs form which is supplied by the post office. They will give you more if you want to keep a supply at home. Examples for filling out customs items would be: | ||||
| > | any reading material mark as 'books or letters' | |||
| > | food items mark as 'non-perishables' | |||
| > | be careful not to mention items like 'pocket knife' unless you want to give the postal service a reason to open your package and rifle through it | |||
