I wrote a couple of storylines for Beth's Days Page and saved them on my website. They include pictures and details and some quotes, but they're not transcripts. (I don't know why there on this page then..but hey.) There will be a couple of more later. (The Revival and Marina Tuscano).
Steves First Scene back after his "death."
In the hospital Jack has just been told hes dying and theres nothing they can do for him. An orderly in hospice care comes to his bedside. Jack is delirious and looks up at the orderly. Jack: Its you. Orderly (putting a paper cup with a straw to Jacks mouth). Have some water. Youre really dehydrated. Jack: My vision is really screwed up. For a second I thought you were someone Imybrother. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Talk to me, say something. Say anything. The orderly looks at Jack and we see his face for the first time. Its Steve! Steve: Come on, just drink. Come on. (Shoving the straw practically in his mouth.) Jack: Steve. Steve. Steve sighs and looks disturbed. Scene fades out. (Destyne grins like a stupid school girl LOL.) Kaylas First Scene back since 1992The verdict just in that Chelsea Brady is only getting community service for killing Zach Brady in a car accident. Hope and Shawn D are devestated. Caroline gets on the phone and calls someone.
Caroline (on her cell phone at the courthouse talking to herself): Oh, she must be there by now.
All we see now is legs and a torso pick up the phone. (But they are very pretty legs and torso.)
Kayla: Hello?
Caroline: Honey, oh, Im so glad I finally reached you. Darling, we really need you to come home.
Camera pans out and we See Kaylas face, she looks distraught.
Kayla: Mom whats wrong? What happened at the trial?
Caroline: Well, Hope expected Chelsea to do some prison time but the judge let her off shes just doing community service. And Hope is just furious with your brother Bo.
Kayla: Why?
Caroline: Because he sided with Chelsea. Things have never been worse between your brother and Hope. He really needs you. We hoped you could be here for Zachs funeral.
Kayla: You know, I wanted to be there, you know that, I just, I um, I was on call and I had a critical patient.
Caroline: Yes, I know. And you saved his life. Were very proud of you. Were proud to have a doctor in the family.
Kayla: Well then you understand why I cant just run home at the drop of a hat.
Caroline: Well yes of course I do. I understand. You couldnt make it for Frankie and Jennifers wedding. But you know the way things are happening now, couldnt you just find some way to come home?
(Scene break)
Kayla: You know, Mom, I feel awful about whats going on with Bo and Hope, but honestly, I dont know what I could do.
Caroline: You could just be here. You and your brother Bo were so close. We miss you.
Kayla: I miss you.
Caroline: Well then, darling, please come home. Its really critical.
Kayla: You know, I just have so much going on her mom, I
Caroline: Like what? I mean whats more important then your family?
Kayla: I, uh, I have family here too.
Caroline: Yes, we miss our granddaughter too.
Kayla: Well, you know Stephanie is involved in a million things right now. You know what its like. You know what it was like when I was a kid. I couldnt possibly uproot her right now.
Caroline: Well, thats what Kimberly says about Jeannie and Andrew.
Kayla: And besides, Ive already volunteered to work Africa this summer. Sort of an exchange program for doctors. I, I already contacted Bill Hortons clinic.
Caroline: Kayla, you can tell me the truth.
Kayla: What?
Caroline: The reason you dont want to come home. Its because of Steve isnt it? You stayed away as long as you could and as far away as you could because Salem has too many sad memories for you.
Im so depressed after typing this transcript. Its a sad scene to watch, but when you have to type the whole thing outuh, boy.
Kayla asked Steve to take her away from Salem. They went to a cabin in the woods.
Kayla is in the bathroom trying to cover the bruises on her neck and shoulder with makeup. She realizes she cant cover them up.
Steve is in bed waiting for Kayla when she opens the bathroom door and stands at the threshold for a moment.
Kayla: (Standing in the bathroom door) Steve?
Steve: Yeah?
Kayla: Can you turn the light out?
Steve reaches over and turns the lamp off. Kayla walks to the bed and he watches her. She climbs into bed and pulls the cover over her. She nervously makes sure the robe is covering her neck.
Steve: Youre beautiful.
Steve starts kissing her. Kayla tries to kiss him back, but pulls away.
Kayla: Im sorry, I cant.
Steve pulls back questionably and looks at her, concerned.
Steve: (Caressing her face) Sweetness, please tell me whats the matter. Talk to me.
Kayla curls her head into his chest.
Kayla: Just hold me, alright. Justjust hold me tonight. II feel safe in your arms.
Steve: Okay, Ill hold you. (He caresses her hair.)
Kayla: All night? (If Your Heart Comes Out Tonight starts to play in the background.)
Steve: (Still caressing her hair) If thats what you want.
Kayla: (Silently sobbing) Yeah.
Steve: Oh baby, its alright now. You just take it easy. Ill hold you as long as you want.
Kayla: Well talk about it tomorrow, alright.
(Credits roll)
(Next Day)
Steve is laying in bed next to Kayla, caressing her shoulder. Her nightgown slips down over her shoulder and Steve sees the bruises. He looks at them concerned. Kayla wakes up a moment later.
Kayla: Mmm, hi. (She smiles at Steve)
Steve: Kayla what happened to you?
Kayla notices the look on his face. She pulls the nightgown up over her shoulder and looks horrified.
Steve: Baby what happened?
Kayla: (talking fast.) Nothing. Im cold arent you? (She turns onto her side away from Steve)
Steve: Baby, dont bother to cover them up, I already saw em. Now what happened? Did somebody try to hurt you?
Kayla: (Her back still to Steve) Theyre almost gone.
Steve: Kayla, somebody did this to you and I want to know who.
Kayla: Boy, Im starving arent you? (She starts to get out of bed. Steve pulls her back)
Steve: No. Now last night you said wed talk in the morning. Now its morning, Im here. Come on baby, were not going to make it together if we hold out on each other. Now what happened? (Kayla has a terrified look on her face.) I had a feeling something was wrong Kayla. Now its time to tell me what happened, give me a chance to make it right.
Kayla: You cant.
Steve: Kayla somebody did this to you and I want to know who. Who!
Kayla: Jack. Jackraped me.
(Steve looks like he just entered a nightmare.)
Steve: Jack raped you? He raped you? When?
Kayla: The night of the election.
Steve shoots up out of bed.
Steve: Im gunna kill him.
Kayla tries to pull him back.
Kayla: No Steve.
Steve: (Pulling his pants on) Kayla, why didnt you tell me about this, huh? Why didnt you tell me? (He leans back onto the bed and looks at her.) Why?
Kayla: I was afraid.
Steve: What were you afraid of? (He kneels on the bed next to her.)
Kayla: Of what you would do to him.
Steve: Oh, baby.
Kayla: Jack was the one who had you beat up. To prove a point to me. To show what would happen if I wasnt a good wife.
Steve: I thought I was like my old man. Congratulations Billy. Can you tell me about it? I need to hear it. I need to know, Kayla. Can you tell me about it, Please?
Kayla: Well it wasum the night of the victory party. We came home. Jack was in a great mood I thought. He was twirling me around and kissing me. I tried to stop him but he got angry. He started showing me all these pictures.
Steve: What pictures?
Kayla: Of you and me together. Like on New Years Eve.
Steve: Where did he get pictures like that?
Kayla: I dont know. He said some reporter.
Steve remembers the reporter, it starts to make sense.
Kayla: He said he knew it was still going on. He saw us on the pier that night. He followed us. He said I was sleeping with you the whole time I was refusing to sleep with him. I tried to tell him it wasnt true, but he didnt believe me. And he kept after me and after me. And he wanted me to admit it. I told him that we werent going to keep it from him forever. That we were just waiting until after he won the election. But he wasnt listening to me anymore. And he threw me down on the couch and he
Steve: No. Stop.
Kayla: And I didnt do anything. I didnt scream. I didnt hit him. I couldnt move. I was paralized. I have thougth a million times of what I should have done. But I couldnt move. He held me down and he tore at my clothes
Steve: Stop. Stop.
Kayla: I hate him.
Steve: No more. (He gets up.) I have to go.
Kayla: Where are you going?
Steve: You know where Im going, baby. I cant let him get away with that. (He puts on his coat) Ill be back.
Kayla: What are you going to do? Youre going to go there and kill Jack and then come back here?
Steve: I dont know what Im going to do Kayla! (He calms down a bit, puts his hand on his head) You gunna be alright here?
Kayla: (barely audible) No. Stay here with me. Please.
Steve throws his coat down and comes back to her side. He takes her in his arms and they cry to each other.
Steve: Its alright, baby. You let it out. Just let it out. Go ahead and cry, you got a right. Its okay. (He lets her go.) Come here. I just wish you would have told me sooner. I could haveI just wish you would have told me.
Kayla: Sorry.
Steve: Thats why you wanted to go away. Thats why you kept stallin when I wanted to tell Jack. And then when we did tell him he took it so well. It didnt make any sense. Now a lot of things make sense. Last night, you didnt want me to touch you. Baby listen to me. (He turns her face toward him) You listening?
Kayla: Uh huh.
Steve: This doesnt change anything. I love you I dont want you to worry.
Kayla leans in and hugs him and cries on his shoulder again.
Steve: Dont worry baby. I love you. (He covers her with a blanket). Here baby. Keep that on. We dont want you to catch a chill.
Kayla: No
Steve: Still shaking a bit there. Kayla, look at me. Look at me baby. (She looks at him) I know this is bad. Cant deny that. But were going to find a way to get through this thing.
Kayla: I dont know how we'll get through it. I havent
Steve: Thats cause youve been doing it by yourself. Let me help you.
Kayla: You cant.
Steve: (Crying) Sweetness, Id do anything Id give anything to take away you feel right now. Tell me what to do to take it away.
Kayla: Hold me.
Steve takes her in his arms and they cry again.
Kayla: Just hold me.
Steve: I got you. I got you baby. Im right here.
After a pause they are walking to the fireplace.
Kayla: I didnt think Id feel like this again.
Steve: You worry too much. (He takes her hand and kisses her engagement ring.) Remember this?
Kayla: What happens now?
Steve: Im gunna build us a fire.
Kayla: Thats not what I meant and you know it. What about Jack?
Steve: Lets not talk about Jack. Lets talk about this fire Im going to build. How were going to lie down in front of it. How Im gunna hold you, stroke you hair, just be together.
Kayla: Id like that.
Steve: Okay. (He goes to the fireplace.) Oh, out of wood. (He puts his coat on and goes to the door.) Ill be back in a second.
Kayla: Steve?
He goes to her.
Kayla: I never felt how much you loved me until now. I never felt how much I love you.
Steve: Its true. I do love you. I love you more then anything ever in this life. (He looks like he wants to kiss her, but just puts his hand to her lips.) Ill be right back.
Steve goes to the door.
Kayla: I love you.
He turns and looks at her then leaves to get firewood.
Kayla: I love you.
(Sighdont you wish guys were really like this?)

Jack has just raped Kayla and she tells Steve to take her away from Salem. She hasnt told Steve that Jack raped her. They go to a cabin in the mountains and decide to take a walk outside in the snow.
Kayla: Beautiful
Steve:(Kisses her hair) yeah, sure is.
Steve wraps his arms around Kayla and kisses her hair.
Steve: Better enjoy this while we can cause someday were not going to be able to do this.
Kayla: Whys that?
Steve: Come mere sit down, I want to talk to you.
They move to sit on a rock.
Kayla: About what?
Steve: Someday were gunna have kids. And then theyll be no time for mamma and poppa to take leisurely strolls in the snow. Were gunna be too busy taking them sledding building them snowmen all that good stuff.
Kayla: (Smiling) Yeah.
Steve: Do you know what kids do when they wake up and see all this snow on the ground? Did you ever see that? They go crazy.
Kayla: I hope youre going to help me with all those kids.
Steve: Of course Im gunna help you, what kind of daddy do you Im gunna be? Then therell be Aunt Adriennes kids. Course theyre probably gunna have the chauffeur ride them down the hill.
Kayla: No, I dont think Adrienne would allow that.
Steve: No, I guess not. Then Grandma Jo will be standing at the top of the hill yelling "be careful, be careful".
Kayla: Got it all figured out, havent you?
Steve: I just cant figure out how to get Uncle Billy into the picture. I dont know, somehow it doesnt seem quite right without him.
Kayla gets up and starts walking.
Kayla: Sure is pretty here. Its like a sparkling white cathedral.
Steve: It is. Its a shame to let this go to waste. Close your eyes. (Kayla closes her eyes. He reaches into his jacket and cups his hands around the ring he'd been wearing on a chain around his neck.)Kayla: (laughs) what.
Steve: K, open your eyes, Kayla
Kayla opens her eyes and laughs.
Steve: Shhh. (He opens his hands and Kayla sees the ring.) Kayla, will you marry me?
Kayla: Steve
Steve: Right now. Right here in this beautiful sparkling cathedral?
Kayla tears up and turns around without answering.
Steve: Whats the matter baby? Dont you want to marry me?
Kayla: Of course I do. Its just that theres not a minister or any witnesses around.
Steve: We dont need any of that stuff. All we need is each other. Lets marry ourselves, right here. Well do it our own way. Im gunna ask you one more time. Will you marry me?
Kayla: (whispers) Yes.
Steve: Alright. (He scrambles around) Lets look around here.
Kayla: What are you doing? (Laughs.)
Steve: Were gunna do this right. (He gathers up some flowers. Oddly enough there are wildflowers growing in the snowgo figure.) We may not need any of that other stuff but my wife to be needs a bouquet. Here, kneel down now. Can we kneel down?
They kneel across from each other.
Kayla: (looks at the wildflowers) Its beautiful
Steve: (Touches her face) Youre beautiful. You ready?
Kayla: (Teary eyed) yeah
Steve: Okay, lets get married.
They look longingly at each other. Steve cups the ring in his hand.
Steve: "So..."Kayla: "So.."
{They are both crying}
Steve: Baby...I'm not really very good with words, all I know is I love you. And we were meant to be together, forever. What do they say? Til death do us part. But you know what, I don't think even that's going to keep us apart...
Kayla: I feel the same way Steve. I feel like we've known each other- since before we were born...I think we were always supposed to be together. I know I'll love you that long. And in this life, and in the next and in the next, there will always be a part of you with me, and I will always be with you.
Steve takes the ring off his chain, slipping it on her trembling finger.
Steve: With this ring, Steven Earl Johnson, and Kayla Caroline Brady become one. Right now and forever.
Kayla: Now and forever, I love you. I love you.
Steve: Baby, I love you
They kiss.
Britta:(from the bathroom): Ill just be another minute.
Kayla comes into the Cheatin Heart where Steve is just about to hustle a game of pool with a friend Jack. (Not THAT Jackhe comes later in the year. ;)) Steve: What are you doing here Sweetness? Kayla: I, ah, came to shoot a couple tables. (She points to the pool table.) Steve: Well, Jack and I were just about to break Kayla: (Clueless) Oh, great, youre on a break then I wont be interrupting anything. How about a game with me? Steve: (laughs and looks amused) Sure Kayla: Terrific. (She goes to the pool table.) Lets see (picks up a cue stick) ah, what do you say we make a little wager on this game, make it a little more interesting? Steve: How much? Kayla: Um, I dont know, how bout (she smacks the table dramatically) ten cents a ball. Steve: Oh, come on baby, the stakes are usually a little higher then that. You know like ten bucks a ball. Hows that sound? Kayla: (looking nervous) No, no, I think ten cents. I dont want you owing me anything that you dont have. Steve: (Amused) Okay Theres an akward silence for a moment. Kayla: You go first Steve: Oh, no, ladies first. After you. Kayla: If you insist. (She walks to the table and laughs nervously.) Steve: Get set there, now. (He racks the balls. The bar room is watching, amused as well.) Alright. Kayla: Okay. (She stands at a funny angle and holds the cue wrong.) Steve: Wait a minute, you always break from there? The bar room laughs. Kayla: Yeah, I do. Is there something wrong with that? Steve: No, no, fine. (Turns and laughs with the rest of the bar) Fine and dandy. Kayla gets ready to shoot, then stops. Kayla: Oh, Im sorry, did you want to take a couple of practice shots? Really? Rude. Go right ahead. Steve: (Laughing) If you dont mind. Kayla: No, be my guest. Of course. Steve: So polite of you. (Steve breaks and the balls scatter) Kayla: Well, you know, sort of impressive. Steve: Its your turn Kayla: (looking nervousshe has no clue what shes doing.) Okay (She picks up some of the balls and moves them around.) Put this one over here. Stand back now, this is going to be good. She takes the shot and misses the cue ball. The bar room laughs. Kayla: Just a little rusty. Steve: Try again. She fumbles with her fingers around the cue stick for a minute then shoots. The cue ball flies through the air. The bar room laughs and claps for her. A patron picks the cue ball off the floor and tosses it to Steve. Kayla looks embarrassed. Steve: Now, Im getting nervous. Jack: (Sarcastically) I dont know, Patch, I think she might be hustling us. Steve walks around the table to Kayla. Steve: Come mere baby. Let me just show you some pointers. Just to refresh your memory. Kayla: Alright Steve picks a different cue stick out for Kayla and hands it to her. Steve: This ones more your speed. Kayla: So short. Steve: (Comes up behind Kayla) Now, heres what you wanna do here. We wanna line up the cue ball with the 13. See it down there by the corner pocket with the orange stripe on it? Kayla: Right Steve: (Stands behind Kayla and puts his hands on her waist) K, you wanna line that one up. Now you wanna stand right about here from the table, move your feet apart like this. (He takes his feet, clad in cowboy boots, and moves them between Kaylas feet, clad in black pumps. Cute. ) Kayla: Right, right. Steve: Now, do you remember how to hold the cue? Kayla: YebutMaybe you should show me. Steve: Okay, maybe I should. Put your hand down here. (He takes her hand and puts it in the right spot on the cue) Alright. This one back here. Not too tight now, youre not reeling in a shark. Kayla: That depends on who your talking to Steve: Now just loosen up. Here we go, see that? Kayla: Hows that? Steve: (Leaning in close to Kayla from behind her) Thats just perfect, baby. Thats good. (Theres a moment for dramatic emphasis) Okay, now just slide through there really easy like a knife through butter. (He helps her slide the cue through her fingers.) Loosen up a little. Now Im going to tell you the most important part of the kicker, is keeping your eye on the ball. I want you to be like me, I want you to close one eye. Okay. Kayla: Uh, huh (She closes one eye and scrunches up her face.) Steve: Youre gunna line up the cue ball with that 13 down there Jim (the bartender): Hey Johnson, how you gunna take care of this tab? Steve: Just hang on a second, dude. (Goes back to Kayla, putting his face next to her cheek.) Now you dont have to kill the cue ball, just give it a firm little spank. Kay? Jim: Yo, Johnson. Steve: Yo, barkeep. Just hang on there, Jimbo. (He backs away from Kayla) You all set? Kayla: (Sticking her tongue out just a little in concentration) Uh huh Steve: Youre on your own now. Kayla: Okay. She looks down the cue and makes a shot. Two balls go in. The bar room cheers and Steve looks surprised. Kayla looks surprised too, then proud. Steve winks at her.
(aired September 1986)
Steve: (annoyed) Yeah, make sure its a minute. I dont have all day to spend here. I have places to go and
Britta: I know, people to see, right.
Steve: Thats right. Thats right.
Theres a knock on the door
Kayla: (From the door) Steve. Its me Kayla. Wake up, its important.
Steve (his shirt half on): What is it?
Kayla: Its about Frankie.
Steve (throws his shirt on the bed and goes to the door): Whats the matter with him? Is he in trouble?
Kayla: Well, if you open the door Ill explain.
Steve opens the door and Kayla walks inside.
Steve: Sorry, I wasnt decent. Whats the matter? Is he hurt?
Kayla: I dont know but he didnt come
Kayla sees Britta come out of the bathroom wearing only a black teddy.
Britta: Hello Kayla.
Britta walks in between Steve and Kayla and gets her clothes.
Kayla: Britta
Steve (to Kayla): Go on
Kayla (flustered): Um, as I was saying, uh
Steve: Frankie
Kayla: Frankie, right, Frankie, um, he didnt come home last night.
Steve: He didnt come home last night? What about Max?
Britta turns and looks at Kayla after getting her clothes and smiles.
Britta: Excuse me. (She goes back into the bathroom. Kayla is watching her)
Kayla: Max is um, is fine. So when my mother went to wake up Frankie he wasnt in his bed and it looked like he hadnt slept in it all night and I was hoping that maybe you would know where he was.
Steve: Why would I know that?
Kayla: I dont know. He seems to trust you. I thought maybe hespent the night here.last night.
Steve (amused): No. He didnt spend the night here.
Britta exits the bathroom, fully clothed.
Kayla: No, I guess he didnt. Goodbye Britta. Steve. (She walks out)
Steve is laughing.
Britta: Whats so funny?
Steve: Oh, nothing baby. I gotta get out of here. (Pulls his shirt on).
Britta: Something wrong?
Steve: No. You just lock the door before you go, huh.
Britta: Right.
Steve walks out but before he closes the door he calls to Kayla. Britta looks disapointed.

This isnt a Steve/Kayla scene, but I think its a totally cool scene and it has Steve in it, so it qualifies. :p
Takes place during the Stockholm storyline. Roman and Hope have decided to ask for Steves help. Roman doesnt like Steve or trust him during this time, but hes desperate.
Roman: Billings told me a clue just before he died. I only told Britta half of it cause I didnt trust her. Im going to take my chances with you.
Steve: What was the clue?
Roman: What I told Britta was 3. But what Billings actually said was 3 knives.
Steve: (Looking disbelieving) You told Britta 3 and she said she couldnt help?
Roman: Yeah, but like I said I only gave her half.
Steve: That was all she needed, man. She knew exactly what it meant.
Hope: Do you know what it means?
Steve: (Looking at Hope with a satisfied look) Its us. Its us, Hope. Me, Bo and Britta. Were the three knives. Three together, together forever.
Hope: (confused) I dont
Steve: Check this out.
Steve pulls his shirt open and reveals his knife tattoo. Hope and Roman are speechless. They just found the clues to solving the missing bonds.

Steve has been trying to prove to Kayla that they dont belong together. Kayla wants to prove they do. They both end up at Shenanagans.
Kayla is sitting alone at a table when Steve comes in a sees her. He starts to walk out.
Kayla: I dont bite.
Steve: Maybe I do.
Kayla: Maybe I lied. Its a little cold out to go running.
Steve: Whos running?
Kayla: Oh, I thought thats what you were doing.
Steve: What would I be running from, Sweetness?
Kayla: How should I know, Im not the one whos running.
Steve: Maybe you should be.
Kayla: No, no, I dont think so. Not my style. Care to join me?
Steve: Join you? (Sits down) Baby, Ill tell younaw, never mind.
Joseph the waiter: Patch, whatll it be?
Steve: Ill have the usual, Joseph. Breakfast.
Kayla: Yes, Ill have the same thing.
Steve: Oh, make sure to bring an egg with mine.
Kayla: I want an egg too.
Joseph writes it down and leaves.
Steve (gets up): Well?
Kayla: What? Where are you going?
Steve: Little boys room. Arent you coming?
Kayla: Why? Do you need help?
Steve comes back a minute later and sits down.
Joseph: Okay, one breakfast beer for you (puts it down in front of Steve) and one breakfast beer for you. (Puts a second down in front of Kayla.) And one raw egg for you. And one raw egg for you, Kayla. Anything else?
Kayla looks confused.
Kayla: Steve?
Steve: Im good baby. What about you?
Kayla (looking hesitant): Perfect. Its perfect.
Joseph leaves.
Steve breaks the egg and puts it in his beer.
Steve: Well Sweetness, bottoms up.
He drinks the beer. Kayla looks disgusted and sudders. Steve finishes and sighs then puts the glass down. He looks challengingly at Kayla.
Kayla breaks the egg and puts it in her beer. Steve is amused. Kayla drinks it all and puts the glass down. She wipes her mouth.
Kayla: Great. I love that protien you know.
Steve laughs.

This scene was completely ad-libbed and thought up by Stephen and Mary Beth. Mary Beth was actually pregnant and said that this scene conveyed the way Stephen took care of her during her pregnancy.
Steve and Kayla are laying in bed. Kayla is eating ice cream. Steve is reading a book of baby names.
Steve: Orson, Orville, Osbert. Osbert, you like Osbert?
Kayla: (laughing) No.
Steve: Hey, Moby Dick, you gunna save some of that for me? (He nods toward the bowl of ice cream)
Kayla: No fat jokes. You promised.
Steve: That wasnt a fat joke, baby, that was a whale joke. Come on, doesnt daddy get a little bite?
Kayla: Alright. But how are you going to explain getting fat and looking like a whale?
Steve: I wanna look just like mommy. (Rubs Kaylas tummy.)
Steve starts playing the harmonica and sings:
Well Momma and Daddy. Were lying in bed. Momma rolled over. And Daddy was dead. Momma called the doctor. The doctor said, Well Moby Dick you shouldnta been lyin in that bed. (They both laugh.)
Kayla: What kind of song is that to sing to our baby?
Steve (rubbing Kaylas tummy): Oh, Im sure Osbert loved it.
Kayla: Osbert.
Steve: Yeah, I can feel him laughing. (Still rubbing tummy)
Steve starts playing a lullaby on his harmonica.
Steve: Is that better?
Kayla: Uh huh. Wouldnt it be great if our baby turned out to be musical just like his daddy?
Steve: Ah, Im not musical. I just blow the harp a little bit.
Kayla: I know. I hope our baby turns out just like his daddy because I love him so much.
Steve: I love you too Sweetness.
They kiss and Steve is rubbing Kaylas tummy.
Steve wakes up from the dream and is rubbing the empty pillow next to him.
Aired February 1987.
Steve: I dont understand you, baby. Jimbo, I tell her she can go anyplace she wants tonight, this is our night, and she wants to come to this dump.
Kayla: Well, I got an urge to shoot a couple of tables thats all.
Steve: Oh, you got an urge to shoot a couple of tables?
Kayla: Yeah, you know. A game of two of pool, helps you relax a little bit. So, how bout it?
Steve: Look, Kayla, dont ever try and hustle a hustler, baby. Alright? Something tells me youve been getting a little practice.
Kayla:Well what if I have? Like I said, its relaxing.
Steve: A little change of pace from needlepoint?
Kayla: Do you want to take me on or not?
Steve: Anytime baby.
He snaps his fingers and calls for the bartender to bring him his pool cue.
Kayla: Well, I have to warn you, Im pretty good.
Steve: Im warned
Kayla: I mean Im really prettypretty good.
Steve: Uh huh, I believe you.
Kayla: Well I just didnt want you to say I hadnt told you, you know.
Steve: Cant say that.
Kayla: Well, you wanna break?
Steve: No, ladies first.
Kayla: Okay, what do you say we make this just a little more interesting
Steve: Im already interested.
Kayla: Now, Im not talking about a little penny anti here
Steve: Penny anti?
Kayla: I am talking about a big bet.
Steve: Um hum, okay, thats the way I like to bet.
Kayla: Buck a ball.
Steve: A buck a ball? Now where did you learn to talk like that?
Kayla: What are the stakes too high for you?
Steve: No, no, its just, Im not interested in money.
Kayla: I think youre afraid to bet. I think youre afraid Ill beat the pants off of you.
Steve: Believe me, baby, thats the last thing Im afraid of, baby. I just dont like the stakes.
Kayla: Oh? Well what do you want to play for?
Steve: Kisses. Lets play for kisses.
Kayla: Youre on.
Steve: Its all yours
Moves from the table so Kayla can break.
Kayla: Rack, please, sir.
Steve(goes back and gets the rack): Oh, yeah. Careful now you don't choke.
Kayla: Outta my way.
She breaks, the balls scatter.
Kayla: Well, now there's a break. (Steve looks impressed.)
Kayla is getting ready to make a shot. The whole bar is watching them play.
Steve: You gotta make this one baby.
Kayla: Don't try to psych me out now. This is my kinda shot.
She takes the shot.
Steve: Yeah, come on now!
The ball goes in and the crowd cheers. She gives Steve a playful push.
Kayla: Pretty good, huh?
Jim the bartender: Hey! Way to go Kayla!
Steve: How come you don't get excited like that when I make a shot, huh?
Jim: Well, I'm afraid you're not quite as pretty as she is.
Kayla laughs.
Steve: You're right about that. Come on, Come on. Keep going, baby. I'm
getting anxious.
Kayla: Fifteen ball
Steve: (to the crowd) Don't cheer so much over there.

She misses the shot. Steve teases her.
Kayla: Alright, alright. Your shot. Go right ahead
