Field Diagram

This is a rendering that I made with Rhinoceros 3D of the Robot Ramble playing field. I tried to make it look exactly like the real playing field, but it is not a perfect scale model.

The large box at the back of the field is the goal box. This box is actually hollow, and an inflated balloon is placed within it at the start of the event. The real life dimensions of this box are 30 x 30 x 30 cm. As you can see in the diagram, the robot starts in the middle of the playing field, and it must be small enough to fit in a 30 x 30 x 30 cm cube at the start of the competition. Near the end of the field lie the items. All of the items lie on edges of an equilateral triangle with side lengths of 30 cm. On the side of the triangle parallel to the front of the goal box, there are two stacks of three corks (that appear as one large truncated cone in the diagram). In each stack, the largest cork (on the bottom) is a #12 cork, the middle cork is a #7 cork, and the top cork is a #4 cork. Between the two stacks of corks lie four ping-pong balls, placed right next to one another. On the opposite edge of the triange sits a topless 30 mm film cannister. On top of the film cannister lies a golf ball.
