The Romulan Economy

The economy on Romulus is semi-centralized by the goverment. The state runs the economy to benefit the people of the empire. The economy provides for the domestic needs of the civilian population and the needs of the Romulan Armed Forces. The government understands the dangers of an enormous military budget and that such a thing in the past has caused great strain on the economy and hardship on the civilian population. Al'anan has declared that he will reconcile the needs of the military and the needs of the population. Our grand leader will ensure we have a strong enough military to protect our socialist empire from the Federation but he has also said that he places a high priority on the needs of the domestic population. He has set out to elimnate poverty and homelessness within three years and to achieve a equal standard of living for all Romulan citizens. He has already provided universal health care, social services, and education for all our empire's citizens, and Al'anan assures us that the radical economic reform will continue, and that it will benefit the people. All main economic activitys are monitered from the economic capital of the Romulan Empire, Kildaphia by the Central Econimic Planing Committiee(CEPC). Local provinicial economic activies are taken care of by Local Economic Subordinate Planning Committees(LEPSC). It is a known fact that hyper centralization leds to long term economic damage, shortages, and a declining economic growth rate. Therefore Al'anan has reformed the economic system to prevent this. There is a LEPSC located in every province of the empire, and every month these bodies sent a report to the CEPC. This report lists the LEPSC's economic goals, objectives, outlook, and desires for its province. The CEPC reviews these reports and as long as a province is following a broad socialist economical trend it is given limited free reign to run it its provinces economy. The CEPC reserves the right to make suggestions to the LEPSC's to help guide their economies. Since the dangers of hypercentralization have already been stated, it is in the governemnts interest not to take a heavy hand to the economy. The following is a basic diagram of the Romulan economy.
