| A strong SE wind 25 -30knots set in as we left Laguna, but fortunately the anchorage at lovely Thomas Island was one of the most protected we'd found. Several others agreed, and joined in a great beach barbie. Being hardened cruisers we weren't about to let a little bit of wind keep us anchor bound, so we spent the next few days rugged up and moving. First to Lindeman..... |

| where we graced Club Med and a bat colony with our presence. Then past Pentecost [ above left]] and Hamilton, and through the Solway Passage [above right] to the famous squeaky white sand of Whitehaven [above] which we had almost to ourselves in the stormy conditions. The weather forecast was for this to continue for several days, so we rolled out a bit of headsail and made a fast passage up the E coast of Whitsunday Island, through the Hook Passage pictured below with a charter boat full of unsuspecting backpackers heading out to meet the wind! Holed up watching DVDs at the far end of Nara Inlet for a couple of days we were hardly aware of the raging elements, enjoying the company of Pittwater yachts "Sierra" Kim, Leanne and Adam, and Geoff on "Mr Percival". Looking out of Nara at night, was like looking down Pitt St. It's a popular place! |
