| The snorkeling at the entrance to Butterfly Bay was impressive, and with wetsuits we were able to stay in long enough to appreciate our surroundings. However a hot shower and rum were essential to get the blood circulating again. We were keen to spend a night on the Great Barrier Reef and were told there were moorings at Bait Reef. | weather window, and had a great sail the 18Nm NE from Butterfly Bay. Arriving mid-morning we picked up a mooring and were greeted by this big Wrasse which took up guard duty under Destiny, and chased everything else away. We drift-snorkeled the "Stepping Stones" and as it was so calm, decided to spend the night. |

| Duck climbed the mast to get this photo, but our camera couldn't do justice to the fantastic colours. This photo was taken at low tide, with the reef exposed and pretty smelly! But at high tide it's completely covered without a landmark in sight. We were joined by a couple of Backpacker sail/dive charters who were very well-behaved, and provided a pretty photo opportunity at sunrise. It was a worthwhile experience. | |||||||||||
