| 10.31.2008: Delgado, Tatis to Rejoin Mets Club
True. Both players would stay with the Mets for the 2009 season. In other news, the Philadelphia Phillies hosted a major World Series Rally in the streets of Philadelphia. In Citizens Bank Park, someone held up a sign of Whos Joe Carter? The CBP crowd screamed like nutcases when Chase Utley showed his obnoxiously joyous pride for his teams second World Championship by saying and I quote: World Fucking Champions! Nice words of emphasized pride, Mr. Utley! For all the times your Phillies had trouble (particularly back in 1993), now you get the chance to sit pretty. Same goes for you, Mr. Phillie Phanatic! 11.11.2008: Johan Snubbed! And the winner of the National League Cy Young Award wasnt Johan Santana or Brandon Webb, my personal pick: it was Tim Lincecum. He had an 18-5 record, a 2.62 ERA, and 265 strikeouts. Not to mention a 97-MPH fastball. Hows that for a young man with Veterans Day potential? (Bad jokehes not a soldier.) Powerhouse TIM LINCECUM Winning N.L. Cy Young Award 11.12.2008: Oakland Takes a Holliday She got Matt Holliday from the Rockies, as planned, and Colorado himself got Huston Street, Greg Smith, and Carlos Gonzalez from her. Merry Christmas to you guys! However, someone on Las Mayores misspelled Hustons name as Hudson Street. Thats H-U-S-T-O-N, you idiots!! Handsome MATT HOLLIDAY and Others Being Involved in Trade Personally, Im glad that Oakland threw Huston out of her club. He wasnt as good as he was in 2005, and Oakland deserved better than what he gave her. He was trash in Tokyo on Opening Day 08. Greg Smith wasnt all that, either. Carlos was good but not quite Nick Swisher. Former Yankees broadcaster Al Leiter would join the still yet to be launched MLB Network. In other news, Lou Piniella and Joe Maddon took their respective Managers of the Year Awards. 11.13.2008: As Moose Considers Retirement, A-Rod, Jeter and Others Take Silver Honors, and Yanks Grab a Swish! According to ESPNEWS, Mike Mussina was considering retirement. However, the Yanks sent Wilson Betemit to the White Sox, and the ChiSox in turn gave them Nick Swisher (!) and another guy. Bout time you cats found someone to replace Mr. Drug Cheat Himselfthe Jason Giambi Cat! You declined his and Pavanos offer, anyway, in favor of getting the sexy Swishy! The American League Silver Sluggers were: Catcher Joe Mauer and 1B Justin Morneau of Minnesota; 2B Dustin Pedroia of Boston; 3B A-Rod and SS Derek Jeter of the Yankees; Outfielders Josh Hamilton of Texas, Carlos Quentin of the White Sox, and Grady Sizemore of Cleveland; and DH Aubrey Huff of Baltimore. The National League ones were Catcher Brian McCann of Atlanta; 1B Albert Pujols of St. Louis; 2B Chase Utley of Philadelphia; 3B David Wright of the Mets; SS Hanley Ramrez of Florida; Outfielders Ryan Braun of Milwaukee, Matt Holliday of Colorado (now Oakland), and Ryan Ludwick of St. Louis; and Pitcher Carlos Big Z Zambrano of the Cubs. In other news, Cliff Lee snubbed Save King K-Rod and Roy Halladay for the American League Cy Young Award. No wonder he did: his record was 22-3, and his ERA was 2.54! Handsome NICK SWISHER Donning Pinstripes 11.14.2008: Could Sabathia Don the Pinstripes at a Record Price? I was checking the MLB site again, and they told me that the Yankees offered C.C. Sabathia a $140 million contract, which would surpass Johan Santanas salary if C.C. were to accept the deal. If you mind me, that salary is over-fucking-whelming. (Sorry about the F-word.) Atlanta gave up once and for all on Jake Peavy, stating she wouldnt get him after all. Instead, she would go out and seek other pitchers. How about Cliff Lee in a Braves uniform? LOLId love to see that. 11.15.2008: Is Jake Peavy Headed for the American League? It looked like he was, given that the Yanks tried making a stab at getting him. But then who would Atlanta get? Who would she trade? Umlemme guess: Tim Hudson to the Seattle Mariners? In other news, MLB was pondering sending her most popular players to the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, wherever they may be held. Kudos to her if she does! 11.16.2008: Manny to Be Suspended by BoSox Sources tell me that Boston was so angry with Manny Ramrezs bullshit that he was bent on suspending the slugger. 11.17.2008: Handsome ALBERT PUJOLS Winning N.L. MVP Trophy He KOd the more heavily favored Ryan Howard for the title. This Crowning Achievement (as MLB.com put it) listed the .357-slugging, .462 OBP-averaging, 37 HR-hitting Pujols as one of the only three players with more than one MVP title alongside Frank Big Hurt Thomas and oh, yeah, A-Rod. According to MLB.com and other sources, the Yanks sent Rasner to a Japanese team in Japan; the Mets denied assumptions about getting K-Rod; and Boston was ready to send Julio Lugo to Detroit. And speaking of the Yanks, their New Yankee Stadium would host two preseason games between them and the Chicago Cubs in 2009. 11.18.2008: American Idol Dustin Pedroia of Boston was up against Josh Hamilton, Francisco Rodriguez, Justin Morneau, Carlos Quentin, and his own teammate (Kevin Youkilis) for the American League MVP title. He was heavily favored over those guys to win. Did he win? Yes!! Even though he only hit 17 home runs in contrast to the more intense sexy reow Carlos J. Quentin, he had a .326 average and 213 hits! He was my top choice for the MVP, anyway, Pedroia. Mr. Quentin had a great season, too, but his wrist injury impaired his MVP potential and ruined his entire impressive season, the poor man. Frankie was awesome saves-wise, but his W-L record was mediocre. Youkilis was third. A.J. Burnett was considering joining the Yankees club. Powerhouse DUSTIN PEDROIA Being Named A.L. MVP 11.19.2008: Powerhouse COCO CRISP Being Sent to Kansas City The BoSox Website told me that Kansas City gave Boston one of her relievers, Ramon Hernandez, as a thank-you gift for sending Coco Crisp to her via parcel post (bad joke). They did this because Boston needed a stronger bullpen arsenal. Plus, Boston joined the Yanks, the Braves, the Tribe, and now Dodger Blue in the fight over Sabathia. Robinson Cano said he would play in the Winter League. In other news, Seattle hired MLBs first Asian-American manager: Don Wakamatsu. 11.20.2008: Cardinals Negotiate with Lefty; Moose to Retire MLB.com and ESPN.com told me that Mike Mussina quit baseball. He retired with 270 wins, just 30 shy of being Hall of Fame eligible. (Sandy Koufax would have been very proud.) St. Louis began the process of taking Trever Miller into their baseball club. Dice-K? He considered pitching again for Japan in the WBC, just like he did in 2006 to help Japan win the title and himself the MVP trophy. (Not to mention Opening Day 08, where he was spared of any decision and Manny simply let Huston have it.) In other news, Bud Selig considered making a rule that would allow the nine innings for all postseason games and the All-Star Gamesrain or no rain. 11.23.2008: Hey, Tazawas Hot! We Wanna Try to Get Him, Too! The BoSox offered Junichi Tazawa a $6 million contract. 11.24.2008: Handsome IVAN RODRIGUEZ Confirming WBC Participation According to MLB.com, the ex-Yankees catcher would again represent his native Puerto Rico in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, just as he did in the 2006 one. 11/25/2008: Swish Turns 28 Happy Birthday to one of the sexiest newbies in the Yankees Club: Nick Swisher! (Not that this mattered, but I just wanted to say that.) 11.26.2008: Mets Breathing Sigh of Relief According to several sources, the Mets would get their relief pitcher soon enough. Also, Citibank, the contributor to Citi Field, wanted the stadiums name to be changed to Citi/Taxpayer Field. WTF Citi/Taxpayer Field??? Wasnt Citi out of her mind? I would have liked to ask them: Are you out of your mind? You guys help the Mets spend a whole truckload of money cultivating Citi Field, and you want to rename it Citi/Taxpayer Field? That name sounds so stupid! How about Mets Field or the New Shea Stadium or something like that? Come on! In other news, the Francisco Rodrguez-less Anaheim joined the fight over C.C. Sabathia. Geezwith all these big name reows fighting over Sabathia, could she really get him if he passed up the Yanks offer? Maybe she could, but when youve got somebody like Boston in there, no doubt shell lose the battle. 11.27.2008: The Red Sox Nation Has Reason to Give Thanks. Speaking of winning battles over hot pitchers, Boston was close to winning another one: MLB.com told me that Junichi Tazawa wanted to join the BoSox. In fact, based upon several articles I read on the website, Bostons offer was the only offer Tazawa-chan took. And would A.J. Burnett make a great Atlanta Brave? Stay tuned 11.29.2008: Handsome MARIANO RIVERA Celebrating His 39th Birthday Ah, Mariano Rivera. You turned 39. 11.30.2008: Handsome JOHAN SANTANA and Others Going Back to WBC An article from ESPN told me that Johan, Maggs, etc. would participate in the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Bernie Williams was working on his second album. |
