| SOUTHPORT must be the jetski capital of the world!!! Ugh Motored out of the Broadwater and cleared the Seaway at 3.00pm Wed 28th Feb. We had a constant NEat 10-12 knots, beautiful sunny evening, not a cloud in the sky. Jude hoisted the main [grunt] inch by [groan] inch, Duck giving advice and jumping around trying to curb his frustration! Jude rolled out the headsail, then collapsed exhausted. N.B. have to keep working on the push ups!! With sails expertly trimmed by the Duck, and Alistair the autohelm steering, Destiny slid through the water doing her 5-6 knots pushing a 1 knot set in 10-12 knots apparent, with slightly cracked sails on a stbd tack. It was pure bliss! After a supper of lasagne, had to tune in to see how the survivors killed the poor likkle piggy wig, along with the rest of Australia, what a wank! Thanks RSPCA for the free publicity! Duck did the first watch and spent most of the time dodging trawlers off N.Stradbroke Island.. Jude took over at midnight in a softening breeze, which was swinging to the SE, in calming seas, still doing 5 knots over the ground. With Alistair in complete control, and the radar keeping a close watch on the trawlers, the place to be was sitting in the back pergola with Vivaldi followed by Andrea Botchelli blaring out of the speakers, with a new moon for company. Dawn saw us almost becalmed off Cape Moreton in the middle of a huge school of enormous hunting dolphins, which reminded Duck he'd been trawling a line all night. Bad luck Duck, no Marlin!! We started the donk, and motor-sailed the rest of the way, making Pt Cartwright on the high tide at 9.30 am. Can it get better than this????? Pictures to follow |
