Rock and Roll High School

(Craig is reading a flyer and Spinner, Marco and Jimmy walk by)
Craig: Hey guys, check this out.
Jimmy: What is it?
*Marco starts reading*
Marco: Does your band have the heat to make hot sounds in T.O.?
Jimmy: Win two days of studio time and record your own single?
Craig: Thats exactly the kind of exposure we need right now.
Jimmy: Then we get the limos, the private jets, the blingety bling.
Spinner: The panties flying at us onstage.
Craig: Man, we have to win this.
*Ashley walks over and pushes them out of the way, with Ellie behind her*
Ashley: Excuse us, posers.
Ellie: Real musicians coming through.
Craig: Oh, youre signing up? Cool. A little competition never hurt.
Ashley: Cause nothing ever gets in the way of what Craig wants. Not emotions, honesty, other peoples feelings.
*Ashley and Ellie walk away*
Craig: You hear that? She still hates me.
*Ashley turns around*
Ashley: And thats why the girls and I are gonna blow you right off the stage.

(Craig is in his garage trying to write lyrics and the rest of the band shows up)
Marco: Yeah, but Ashleys been playing the piano for what12 years? And Paige is really good. And then theres Hazel
Craig: Marco, relax! Theres no way Im gonna let my ex-girlfriend beat me in a band competition. So you guys learn the song?
Spinner: Yeah. Yeah, we listened all day.
Jimmy: Are the lyrics ready?
Craig: Well, how about you just concentrate on getting the song down. OK?

(Ashley, Ellie, Paige, Hazel, Craig, Jimmy and Marco in Miss Kwans class. They have to read entries from their creative writing journals. Ashley volunteers)
Ashley: These are the lyrics to a song I just wrote: Black, twisted agony. The fires of chaos burn on. Run for her tombstone before its too late. The blood runs cold in her veins.
*Marco and Craig laugh*
Miss Kwan: Great, just great. Lets save our discussion until weve heard more, shall we.
*Class ends and they walk out*
Ashley: I cant believe nobody said anything about my song.
Paige: Um, honI dont think anyone got it.
Ashley: Its about a girl who died in the Spanish Civil War.
Craig: Yeah, umI feel her pain.
Ellie: I hate to be brutal
Ashley: But youre going to anyway.
Ellie: Youre supposed to write about things youve experienced.
Hazel: Yeah, like your ex.
Ashley: I just cant pretend to forgive or forget. Gonna make the day you met me, a day youll regret.
Ellie: I think Craigs in trouble.

(Craig is in the music store and Ashley walks in, but tries to leave as soon as she sees him)
Craig: Ashleywait. ListenIve been thinking about things between us andI respect you too much for things to keep going on like thisand youre not shouting at me. Im gonna take that as a good sign.
Ashley: If you have something to say thenI want to hear it.
Craig: Good. So, Im sorry I made fun of your lyrics earlier. Youre a really good writer and musician and that wasnt fair.
Ashley: This is about my lyrics?
Craig: Yeahwhat did you think?
Ashley: Nowhat was I thinking.
*Ashley walks away*

(The boys are practicing in the gym, while the girls are waiting their turn. The boys dont sound good and the girls laugh from their seats)
Paige: Umthis song, it has lyrics.
*The girls start playing and Ashley sings the words to Craig*
Ashley: This song is a prize for breaking my heart. Shouldve written these words to you right from the start. You say it doesnt matter, how its all in the past. My pain doesnt show, its disguised by its mask.
All: I cant pretend to forgive and forget. Gonna make the day you met me, a day youll regret.
*Craig is fuming*
Ashley: Cause youre the dust in my eye, youre the rock in my shoe. Yeah, You lie, lie, lie.

(Ashley, Paige and Ellie are sitting in class and Craig walks up to Ashley)
Craig: Those lyrics of yoursnot cool.
Ashley: Typical, self-absorbed Craig actually thinks the song is about him.
Ellie: Wowso vain.
Craig: Whats your problem? You attack me every time I pass you in the hall and now youre performing that?
Paige: Well, what did you expect? For hes a jolly good fellow?
Craig: Ash, I swear if you play that song in the competition Ill
Ashley: Have sex with more grand nines?
Simpson: Guys, settle down please.
Craig: You know, if you werent such a prudeId never of been with Manny.
Ashley: Oh, but I thought you loved her?
Craig: Oh, you know what go
Simpson: Hey! One more word, double homework.

(The girls walk down the hall wearing matching outfits with Craigs head surrounded by flames on their shirts, and pass by the boys)
Marco: Is thatCraig?
Ashley: You like? Its amazing what you can do with a computer these days.
Craig: I give up.
Ashley: Im sorry, I care why?
Craig: All you care about is making my life a living hell.
Ashley: Do you have any idea what my lifes been like for the past few months?
Craig: Please. Not this again.
Ashley: You think this t-shirts hard to deal with or our song? I wanted to die, Craig. I felt that bad.
Craig: OK, well youre not listening
Ashley: No, its not OK. Itll never be OK.
Craig: Im sorry. OK. Im sorry. Im sorry. Im sorry. Im sorry. Im sorry. Im sorry. Im sorry. How many times do I have to say it?
Ashley: Until you mean it!

(The girls performance)
Ashley: You say it doesnt matter, how its all in the past. My pain doesnt show, its disguised by its mask.
All: I cant pretend, to forgive and forget. Gonna make the day you met me, a day youll regret.
Ashley: Cause youre the dust in my eye, youre the rock in my shoe. Yeah, you lie, lie, lie. Better watch what you say cause Im on to you, Mr. Nice Guy. Whooaaa, Mr. Nice Guy. Youre so nice!

(Its the guys turn and they go onstage without Craig. Theyre about to start but Craig walks onstage with his lyrics written on a piece of paper and sings to Ashley)
Craig: I dont know if youll forgive me
*the girls in the band watching all turn and look at Ash*
for being so blind to how you felt. Dont ask me why I couldnt see it and thatd take me years to figure out. And thats not something I know much about. But theres only one way to find out. Yeeaahhhh. What I know is that I hurt you, oh. And what I know is that I suck and what I know is that Im sorry. What I know is that Im a loser, yeah and what I know is I screwed up and then I never earned your trust. What I know is that everything I touch just turns to dust.
(The boys win the competition and Ashley has something to say to Craig)
Spinner: Oh, are you here to bring us down becausewe won fair and square.
Ashley: Yeah, you did. Congratulations. And Craig, nice lyrics. They were just right.
Craig: Thanks.
*Ashley walks away and Craig smiles*
