| School is a place to explore and learn. In our room we think that it is easy to learn when you can sing a song or use your hands to learn more about something. |
| We are learning the alphabet and the sounds that each letter makes. Also, we have "popcorn words" that we study each day. These are words that keep popping up in our books. (Sight words) Sounding out words is the next phase of learning to read. When we have learned all this... we are able to read. |

| Sounding out Words |
| When your child is having problems sounding out a word, try to sound out the consonants and when you get to a vowel, we use these key words to help us. a= apple e= egg i= igloo o= octopus u= umbrella |

| Find objects in your home to count. (Beans, maccaroni, cars, legos, etc.) Make flash cards with numbers on them. Sort items by color, size, shape, type. February Fast Facts will begin on the 2nd and our "rounds" will begin on the 23rd. |
