Memorial to the Soldiers of The Confederacy
This page is dedicated to those that fought against the Union Army, during the war between the States.
It was not a fight over slavery, but States' rights, as well a shipping routes along the East coast, of which the Northern States had only two major shipping ports available to them, one being New York Harbor, and the second being Boston Harbor. On the other hand, the Southern States controlled heavily many major shipping import and export points, ranging from Norfolk, Va., Wilmington, N.C., Charleston, S.C., Savannah, Ga., Jacksonville, Fla., New Orleans La., as well as many major import/export points along the Mississippi River. The major misconception was that the Civil War was all about owning slaves, of which is a large myth, that unfortunately is told still today.
But to assume that the issue was slavery, when the negros were paid the amount of $37.00 per month to work the plantations, of which after the war, those same people used the money they had earned to purchase land in the South, as well as points North. So how can one claim "slavery", when in fact they were paid wages to work the fields?
The MAIN focal point of the Civil War, or fondly referred to as the "War Between The States", was over not only State's rights, but trade, meaning shipping routes as well.
It can be further presumed, and as well documented that the Northern States, acted in the same manner as Saddam Hussein, when he invaded Kuwait.
The main issues here are that Hussein needed a major point of export for the oil production that came out of Iraq, hence he iuvaded Kuwait, the nearest and ,most vulnerable point of producing Hussein himself millions of U.S. dollars in revenue for export of oil, thus generating a port of export for his goods.
To all of those that served, to include those in my lineage that served, may God bless you and always hold you near to his breast, for you have earned your place with him.
