sweet!The Despina Caldis Fan Page!

last update: 03-Jan-2006

Hello everyone!

Firstly let me apologise for abandoning this site a few years ago. I thought there was no interest out there and I got a bit bored so stopped updated. Well I can't tell you how astonished I was when I discovered that many of you have been communicating here via my old guestbook (which is now full!). This is amazing! I'm sorry I did not notice earlier, and I hope I can make it up to you all by opened up a new forum in honour of Despina where you can all communicate in a much more civilised manner! Please check it out. You can find it at the old shorturl:

Introduction

Welcome to the first ever Despina Caldis website! As you can see, things are a little empty here at the moment. The problem is, I haven't been able to find any information on Despina since she left Heartbreak High all those years ago. I'd really like to get the site off the ground, but I'm not really going to get very far without content! So, dear fans, please, if you have anything you can share - stories, photos, news, etc. - please please please please please write or send it in to me at [email protected] and I'll add it to the site. If you wish to remain anonymous, just let me know, otherwise I'll gladly attribute new content to whoever sends it.

Who is she?

Despina used to play the character 'Effie' in the first series of the Australian teen drama Heartbreak High back in 1994. It was a small part, so small, in fact, that the writers actually forgot all about her and she disappeared from the series without a trace! (She went upstairs and mysteriously never came back down again!) The scriptwriters eventually admitted they had forgotten about her --- idiots!

'Despina' is a beautiful name, it comes from the Greek 'despoina' which means queen, lady, mistress, feminine of despots, master. Despoina was also the name of an Arcadian goddess, 'The Mistress,' who was the daughter of Poseidon. How fitting! :-)

Hmm, at a guess I would say Despina must have been born around 1982-'83, she's obviously from a Greek family background.

I know, I know, It's terrible, but that's all the information I have right now, honest! ...Ehum, lets move on shall we...

I recently got hold of a capture card so hopefully I'll get around to adding some more pictures of Despina from the old episodes of HH soon. For now, here are a couple of nice pictures I've found floating around in cyberspace:

How cute!?

There there!
Aww :-)

"Effie"

To be honest, I was never a real fan of Heartbreak High. In fact, I really hated it! But seeing as this site is dedicated to Despina - who is known only for her role in that TV program - and seeing as this place looks so empty, here's some facts about her old character 'Effie'... (cut from a HH site).

Con, greasy haired bloke
Con

Effie is Nick's little sister. She thinks Con's the best and she also likes Kat. She had troubles when her mother died and when Stella wanted to leave the Poulos' house. When George (her father) wants to leave for Greece she runs away from home but they find her in Kings Cross and after that she and Nick stay at the Bordinos.

The Bordinos: Pivotal family group in the early days of HH. Helen, Roberto, Rocco and of course Con provided a home for any wayward strays that drifted into their household. Roberto owned a building firm and wanted his sons to follow in his footsteps, constantly being disappointed when they didn't. Roberto then took control of the Shark Pool, that other gathering place of all the waifs and strays in Hartley. Helen owned her own catering company and was the real strength behind her family. Kind and caring they never stopped looking after other peoples children. Matt, Effie, Katerina all stayed as guests of the Bordino household. Last seen as they departed for a European holiday that they never returned from and forgetting that they had left Effie upstairs and a couple of businesses to run...

Kat, she's in Home and Away now, heh

There are loads of sites for Heartbreak High on the net, just type the title into a search engine and you're sure to find some. Here's some I have found myself, they should get you started:

Check out their links pages, they'll lead you around all the best sites.

I'm not sure why, but I've added some nice music here to honour Despina (well, to be honest I'm a bit of a mad Bach fan and I'm trying to indoctrinate you all!). It's beautiful and most fitting, would'nt you agree :-) ? If you can't hear anything, you need Reaplayer.

Here's some beautiful music for Despina :-)

You need realplayer to listen to the music

About me

Me, I'm just a boring Englishman. I'm currently a student at London University, where, apart from avoiding doing any work, in my spare time I like to put websites together. Click here if you are interested to know why I ended up putting this site together.

If you'd like to contact me, you can do so by writing to [email protected], or you can chat with me on Yahoo Messenger if you have it. I don't always use it, but I occasionally switch it on -this icon will tell you if I am available for a chat:

Thanks for visiting the site, I hope you'll come back again soon. I'm sorry there isn't much here at the moment, but hopefully if people start sending things in, that'll soon change! My email is at the top of the page and a link to my guestbook is at the bottom - feel free to sign it!

Bye for now!
