Modified North Korean KOB by Desperado6:

What it is:
Enclosed in this zip file is a read me file, modified North Korea
Kob19, Scenario 47 which pits a doctrinal US armored spearhead against
a NK security zone, and a pic file of .lbm formatted phtos of NK
equipment. This file was developed after several disappointing games
against the AI where the AI bought garbage units and too many 1v1 games
where non-superpowers get trounced out of hand.

This is the real deal Order of Battle for North Korea, at least as
accurate as Janes and other public sources will allow. Values and
stats for existing systems were not modified while producing this KOB,
and new systems were given stats in the most comparative and
conservative manner with the objective of maintaining the balance of
the original SP3. The result is a model of North Korean forces that
has the teeth and tenacity of the original.

Background:
A divided Korea was the result of the breakup of the Allies as WW2 came
to an end. A lack of US policy in the region following the war created
a vacuum into which the communists fell. Ironically the principle
players in the South had sympathized with the occupying Japanese and
the leaders in the North such as Kim Il Sung were all united in their
guerilla struggle against the Japanese. The area North of the DMZ was
where the japanese had built their colonial industry, with steel
production at its core. Based on this industrial foundation, the North
was the first to rise from the ashes of the Korean War and remained
dominant on the peninsula until the late 1970's when the South finally
caught up with and eventually surpassed the North. The transition of
the world's military from industrial era to information era forces left
the North behind and only at great expense have they been able to
selectively upgrade their forces.
Starting with the Nixon visit to China and concluding with the
collapse of the Soviet Bloc the North lost their communist allies and
found itself progressively deserted militarily. They adopted a policy
of self-reliance that has pervaded every aspect of Northern economic
production. In military terms the North only procures weapon systems
which they are capable of supporting internally. For example, while
nearly every other Soviet aligned nation procured the ZSU-23-4 Shilka
air defense system, the North did not because they produce no domestic
23mm ammunition. This policy of self-reliance is known as Chajusong
and has created many weapon systems unique to North Korea.

North Korean Tactics:
First Rule: Always fight on two fronts. The North will always fight
the close fight while simultaneously going deep with special forces,
scuds, and artillery. To this end, every echelon has special forces
and sniper elements organic, even Sniper Brigades exist in the North.
The North believes that the head follows the tail and if they can
wreak havoc in the enemy's rear the frontline forces will not be able
to continue the fight.

Rule Two:Manuever supports artillery, not vice-versa. Artillery is
the big killer in the Northern arsenal and will play a pivotal role
in any engagement.

Game Stuff:
New units range from the ubiquitous M1973 IFV to the 40km+ ranged
170mm Koksan Gun. A whole family of SP artillery and new rocket
systems are introduced to give the North its artillery advantage.
Scuds, Frogs, and the No-Dong SSM are included for assault scenarios.
Defensive works include concrete T62s, command bunkers, and artillery
shelters. UAVs, air delivered mines, and new weapons loadouts are here
for aircraft and helos. Large formations such as infantry regiments
and mech brigades are here for massed assaults. Finally, the AI can
be expected to at least purchase some worthwhile units for battles.
