155mm WA 021 with APU
The 155mm WA 021 is a superior design produced by the Heping Machinery Factory of Norinco first produced in 1986.  The gun was based on a design supplied by Dr. Gerald Bull, and also used on the Austrian GHN-45 howitzer.  The gun is 45 calibers long and is the basis for the ordnance of the Type 88 SPA (PLZ-45).  The gun can be fitted with an APU for limited self-propelled mobility and has been in service with the PLA since at least 1991.  At least 15 of these guns have been provided to Iran.  An interim weapon known as the MF 45 was developed as a prototype.  This gun is also known as the PLL01 in PLA service.

Ammo:  NATO Standard, ERFB-HE, ERFB-BB-HE, ERFB-BB-WP, ERFB-ILLUM, ERFB-Smoke, ERFB-BB-Illum, ERFB-ICM (72 Bomblets), ERFB-BB-ICM
