| Based on the success of the Type 70, the Type 85 combined the versatile 122mm Type 83 howitzer with a Type 85 APC chassis. The gun is mounted in the back of the chassis in an open mount and covered with a canvas cover that is stowed around the top of the vehicle when not in use.
