A MESSAGE FROM...
  OUR WORSHIPFUL MASTER...

Brethren,
On Saturday, October 21, 2000, we had our annual "Widows' Dinner."   Although there were not as many present as usual, everyone enjoyed a good meal and were taught some things concerning what the Holy Bible has to say about how we should visit the widows and orphans during their afflictions!   While we were on the subject of death, the thought of the current affairs of our Wills came up and I am happy to sat that Brother Jim Gordon, an attorney and a Master Mason, has agreed to look over anyone's will at no cost and make sure they are updated.   He may be contacted at (901) 525-8601.   This is especially importnat if your marital status has changed or your children are now grown and you Will has not been updated.   We must all eventually face death, so take this opportunity and make it easier on any love one left behins.
God, himself, was concerned with his people's life, for even at the completion and dedication of King Solomon's Temple (1 Kings chaps. 8 & 9), the Lord appeared to King Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him when his father, King David, died.   The Lord accepted the Temple as an indwelling place for God's Spirit on earth, the Ark of the Covenant, (that the children of Israel had carried as they wandered in the wilderness for forty years with Moses) and and the two tablets of stone that God had given to Moses on Mt. Sinai (the Commandments).   God told King Solomon that he accepted the Temple and hallowed it but gave Solomon a stern warning "...if ye shall as all turn from follwoing me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before, but go and serve other gods, and worship them; I will cut them off and destroy this house which I have hallowed for my name, so that Isael should be a proverb amoung all people and everyone that passes the Temple shall say, 'Why has the Lord dne this, because they forsook the Lord their God and taken hold upon other gods, and have worshiped them and served them; therefore the Lord brought upon then all this evil'..."
                                                                                               Faternally,
                                                                                               Jim Nichols, WM

Why do we call it "Blue Lodge"?   The term "Blue Lodge" is commonly used to refer to Craft Masonry, but the correct name is "Symbolic Lodge".   Where, when or why the name "Blue Lodge" originated is unknown.   However, there have been many explanations written for this term.   Blue is generally regarded as the color of truth and fidelity.   These are the basic teachings of our craft.   Blue is the color used to characterize friendship, one of the jewels of a mason.   Blue has been used to trim and ornament Masonicx aprons, collars and clothing; thus these symbolic and practical uses of that color may account for the name.  Others have found some symbolism in the blue arch of the heavens and have urged that for a Freemason the virtues of friendship and the benevolence must be as expansive as the heavens.   These are all suppositions and symbols with beautiful meanings, but let us remember that the correct name is "Symbolic Lodge", despite the fact that blue as a color and a symbol is prominent in our teachings.

WE HAVE ONE OBJECT IN MIND - TO IMPROVE AND MAKE WIDESPREAD OUR MASONIC TRADITIONS.
