Brethren, Our Worshipful Master is taking time off to visit his son and daughter-in-law to await the birth of a new grandchild. We should keep him and his family in out prayers for continued happiness, health and a safe return.
In commemoration of St. John the Baptist, a lecture was conducted by our Worshipful Master, Jim Nichols, who gathered information from the Holy Bible and Webster's Dictionary. This information revealed that St. John was related to Jesus of Nazareth and that the two were close in age. They were also good friends.
As young men, finding their place in life, each chose to spread the word of God's will to mankind. John diligently would go to the river's edge and talk of how a man must be cleansed of sin by baptism. This is how he came to be known as John the Baptist. Jesus proclaimed to be the son of God and together they procedded on their mission. John would often lead the way on these journeys, talking to the masses and baptizing as many followers as he could. Jesus would follow, strengthening the desire of the people to learn more of the greatness of God through his sermons and acts of miracles.
John was not without doubt of his mission. In times of despair, such as when he was arrested and fearing the worst, he asked for Jesus to visit him. John, seeking reassurance asked Jesus, "Are you really the son of God?". Jesus replied, "Yes, I am the Messiah." These words gave John peace of mind and the strength to meet his fate.
Like John, it is only human to question, "Am I on the right path?" If we stop to catch our breath and remember our faith is in God, and all things are left in his hands, we too will find peace of mind and the strength to go on.
Faternally,
Earl Eugene Major, SW

DUES !! DUES !! DUES !!
Brothers, most of you have remitted your dues, and the Lodge thanks you for the savings to the Lodge for not having to send statements, but to those of you who have not yet seen fit to mail your dues, statements will be sent to you in the near future. Again, to those of you who have elected to save the Lodge the extra expense, thanks!
Things cannot always go your way. Learn to accept the silence the minor aggravavations, cultivate taciturnity and consume your own smoke with and extra draught of hard work, so that those about you may not be annoyed with the dust and soot of your complaint.
