SVU is a newer development in recent years. It was created to deal with the special needs in the private sector for handling personal sex crimes such as rape, stalking, molestation and incest.
Officers in this department are called on to investigate these crimes , solve them and try to do the best they can to help and see jujustice done by the victims. hence the title Special Victims Unit. The average officer is a Detective with som psych training under his or her belt. Both juvenile and adult casess come her. Suffice to say, it is an emotionally demanding job. |
