Desmond unintentionally became a leader during the conflict, as did Essie. When the battles faded both were elected primogens of their respective clans. Desmond held the post for only three years, stepping down in favor of another position: Sheriff.
During his tenure as sheriff, Desmond has dealt with 3 attempted coups by the Sabbat and repeated confrontations with the FBI in maintaining the Masquerade. The last Sabbat coup attempt ended with Desmond being forced to diablerize the Sabbat �s Tremere Att. Leader, leaving their local group leaderless and earning Desmond their special hatred. The action lowered Desmond�s generation, but nearly cost him his sanity as the Tremere� personality fought with Desmond�s. At one point the current prince even ordered a blood hunt on him to destroy the inhabiting spirit before the city�s secrets were lost to the Sabbat. Thanks to Essie, who risked her very existence to help him though the nightmarish ordeal, Desmond returned to his right frame of mind destroying the Sabbat personality forever. It also served to strengthen the bonds that joined these two kindred in the first place. With Desmond cured and the Sabbat in disarray, the Prince was able to initiate her plan to strike the Sabbat at their core, thus driving them out of the West side completely, gaining precious ground. The city isn�t free, but there is hope�.
Some time ago, Desmond has moved to Necropolis, Mo. by request of the current Prince, to assess the strength of the Sabbat nearby. Introducing himself to the City elders and the prince at the time Ralph Norman, Des conducted his investigation, finding out what he needed, but deciding to remain for a time.
Arriving there he has made a second home and become romantically involved with some of the city�s vampires, close friends with others, most notably: Pandora, the first of the Toreador to greet him in the city, one of the most precious relationships to him. Brighid DesMarceaux, the talented ventrue beauty who enchanted him and brought him into her world. Althea Masterson, the sweet Toreador from Desmond's own era who shares his nights now. Katherine Durant, a mysterious gangrel who seems to have found a special place in Desmond's heart.Angel Collins, one of the few who match Desmond in both passion and strength of will. Callasandra, Desmond's adopted childe and lover. Other allies include Jon Blead. and Stan & Najah Devildog. Najah having always been especially close to Desmond.
Desmond arrived in Necropolis over 4 years ago now. He has become a respected member of its community and an Ancillae of the Toreador clan there. He has alsofound friendship with other Kindred from Michigan such as Gunny Devildog, whom Des refers to as "Family Man" and fellow former Detroiter Kai Tukov. Des' police and Federal law enforcement ties also have made him an asseet to keeping the Masqurade in tact.
Within other circles, Desmond's skills as a police officer and manhunter have also gained him reward in the mortal world. He has as of late been made CO of the necropolis PD's Special Crime Unit. Due to the amount of nocturnal crime, the Necropolis has become one of the few cities in the US with a large Night Court system and twin Day/Night divisions of the department.
Desmond has also purchased a second home on the outskirts of the city. The home a large 5 bedroom house is set back in 175 acres of land that Desmond purchased 3 years ago and had built. in Necropolis boardering a small lake that was abonus to the purchase. In recent months Althea Masterson, much beloved of Desmond has moved into this second home as well. The two of them now blood bound to Desmond's sire Theresa DeMedici to allow them the freedom of their true feelings for each other while preventing anyone from seperating them via the bond.
In the most recent turn of events in Desmond's life his former lover and adopted childe Callasandra has returned to the necropolis. At first afraid that Desmond would reject her, she kept away. But after talks with tow other people close to Desmond, Angel Collins and Katherine Durant, Callasandra finally talked to Desmond and he took her back with open arms.
Recently, Najah Devildog and Desmond have once again become lovers. He had fallen for the Brujah beauty not long after arriving in the domain, but problems and then her marriage to Stan Devildog seperated them. With Stan's loss of humanity and taking his childe as a lover, followed by his death, najh has reconciled with Des who welcomed her with love. Currently they have purchased a haven that they share when they can.
