In 1991 two vessels were built with the new concept ... relatively small vessel with a shallow loaded draft, and with the minimum of 50 TEU container capacity. The overall length should not be more than 50.00 m., in order to avoid having to engage pilot services (According to Thai Regulations). The consumption should be kept miminum. and the vessel's breadth should be optimum in order to take both break bulk cargoes and containers.
Approximately 3 years later, another 5 vessels of the same design were built for a Thai client for carrying timber logs or containers. Here are the principal particulars:-
