Background:

Richard Vimieiro was born in Badajoz, Spain, in 1968. His father was a Spanish writer that was visiting England when he met Anne Gibbons. They quickly fell in love and Roberto took her with him back to Spain where they married. Within a year Richard was born, a grey-eyed boy with a look of constant bewilderment on his face. Roberto was proud, showing the child around as his heir, and even dedicating several books to him and his wife. Life in Badajoz was easy-going, and Richard grew up amongst people who loved him. His mother made sure he learned English, his father made sure that he got the space and time to develop as a boy.
Roberto Vimieiro died when Richard was 10, and his mother debated for a year whether or not she should move back to England. She decided it was for the best, and took her son to Kent. Richard felt as if his soul had been ripped apart when leaving Spain, mostly because all he knew was in that town. He grew sullen, refusing to forgive his mother for taking him away from Spain. His mother grew in with her parents, and within two months the decision to send Richard to a public school in Northern England had been made.
Richard was a good student, but not very social. It was mostly because of his background in Spain. He kept to himself, and when he didn't he was either talking with the Priest or the Masters at the school. Richard was confused, mostly because of his attraction towards both sexes, and because of his conviction that it was wrong. Still, certain events at school proved to him that there wasn't anything called wrong, except what didn't sit right in your heart. He graduated, with good grades, and entered the RAF. His dream for the last two years of school had been to be a pilot, and it was something he was willing to give his all for.
RAF proved to be a challenge. Richard became a fighter pilot, and a good one too. He had a natural ability to adjust to situation, as well as a good pair of eyes and quick reflexes. It was a good career, but flying and occasionally fighting for England didn't sit too well with him. He could never put his finger on what didn't feel right, but after 9/11 he decided he had enough. He left the RAF and instead sought employment with a commercial airliner instead. Richard also bought himself a small house in Badajoz, returning to what he considered his home.
Richard was on his was to Seattle to pilot a plane to London, where he would meet his part-time lover Liam Craddock, when he went missing. He leaves a grieving mother and step-father behind.
