Background:

Despite the ancient Greek connotation of her name, Xenia was born into the decidedly English Moriarty business empire. Her family’s business empire goes back to the late eighteenth century, where an ancestor made his fortune by starting up one of the newly immerging factories. Of course, the factories made all those who were lucky enough to see they were the way of the future very wealthy men as the demands for the fabrics could barely be kept up with. The business grew over the years, and the Moriarty family became a new type of member of the English upperclass...the type of family that were there not because of a title and estate of aristocracy, but because they had made their fortune through business.

By the time the family business, Moriarty Enterprises, was passed to Xenia’s father, it was worth a cool £1.7 billion, having branched out into many forms of business over the past two hundred years. Xenia, the only child and sole heir of the wealthy father, was brought up as refined young lady, yet also allowed the freedom of her natural energy and spirit. She did well in her lessons, proving as intelligent as her father and with a sharp mind to go with it. She knew one day she would inherit the business, and looked forward to it, throwing herself into the studies needed to sharpen her managerial and business sense...she wanted to be just as good as her father, female or not. She developed a passion for not only the expensive things in life, but also the active and dangerous. There wasn’t a sport she wouldn’t try, and the more dangerous and thrilling it was, the better.
At the age of 18, she was already a household name to many, with appearances on red carpets and at the most prestigious events with her family, as well as having done a few photoshoots with some magazines to promote the Moriarty businesses with a pretty young face to appeal to the younger generation. However, she would become even more well known in the press when she was abducted on her way back from a London party. She was held for a ransom of £20 million, and although her father could easily pay it, he refused to negotiate. As a result, she was held hostage by her kidnappers for a total of three months, and even then she had to kill the men to escape herself.

The relationship between Xenia and her father never mended after the abduction. She was hurt deeply by the fact that he wasn’t prepared to pay money for her life...that she wasn’t worth that much to him, and she was too hurt by it to be able to understand his moral dilemma. Unfortunately, they never resolved their differences before his death when she was 19. With his death, and her mother having died some years earlier from illness, Xenia inherited Moriarty Enterprises, and set to work right away. She proved herself to be a shrewd businesswoman, having learnt and watched well as she was preparing herself for it. She also had a gambling streak in her, pushing her to make some more risky ventures, but all investments that would prove to rake up a lot at the end of the day. She was a natural leader and even more natural businesswoman, and there was no doubt she was going to be a success running the company.
She was all too aware that she needed an heir though, and at the age of 21 she was married to Harry Elliot, the second son of a viscount, and with a charming smile and wicked way with women. He seduced her to his bed, and they had a whirlwind romance that led to their marriage, however, not long after the birth of their daughter, Ophelia, the marriage became turbulent when he started to dabble with other women. Xenia refused to take it lying down, and they would sometimes fight violently over his flings, but the final straw came when he invested £2 million of her money behind her back with another woman, who he was also sleeping with. She calmly took a rifle from her weapon collection and started firing at his feet until he ran out. He tried to screw her over in the divorce courts, claiming for half of her fortune, but there was no way in the world she would allow him a penny of the Moriarty money. A team of expensive lawyers saw to it that he was laughed out of court, and the two were divorced after three years of marriage, Ophelia given into the sole custody of Xenia, and none of her money going to Harry.
Xenia’s profile grew not only as a businesswoman, but also as a celebrity with several newspaper and magazine spreads dedicated to her due to both her intriguing private life and the fact she had grown into a beautiful young woman. Press attention might cover from what her latest business venture might be, to what dress she had been wearing at the exclusive party the night before, depending on the publication she was appearing in. She became well practiced in switching on a charm filled smile in front of the cameras, and presenting herself well to the media to keep her reputation well in the press, yet whilst using her celebrity to publicise her business, she was always careful to keep Ophelia out of the spotlight. Yet, her business didn’t suffer for her time taken up by the press and social functions she attended, on the contrary, the value of Moriarty Enterprises almost doubled from when it had been her father’s, to £3.5 billion, and it is suggested that her private funds not tied up in her business may be an even higher figure.

When Flight 388 went missing, one of the passengers onboard was a Mr Jason Perkins, the nephew of the renowned Lord Jerome Stark. Sir Christian Stark, civil servant, another Uncle to Mr Jason Perkins, begged Xenia, a close personal friend and business associate, as a keen amateur pilot to take him out in her small plane, convinced they were still alive somewhere and desperate to help his nephew if that was the case. For two weeks, they swept many different possible locations to try and find the plane, but sadly Xenia’s own plane went missing in their search.
Personality:

Xenia comes across as a bold and often fearless woman, craving the dangerous and exhilarating things in life to try and feel alive. She pushes herself further and further, and is now not only a competent sportswoman in many different and difficult areas, but has also indulged in many extreme sports, such as bungee jumping and parachute jumps. She never backs down from a challenge or a confrontation, and isn’t a woman to be taken lightly in any means, as she has proven many times in the world of business. She is a shrewd and clever businesswoman, with a natural talent for it, as well as leadership. She has a natural charisma which makes people listen to what she has to say and makes them feel compelled to follow it...it also helps that she has grown into a rather beautiful woman.

She can be strict and stern when dealing with her employers, easy to shout orders off, but is not meant in a harsh way, it is simply to get things done quickly. Efficient and capable, she cannot stand lazy, slow or incompetent people. On the one hand, she can be a feared member of the business world for her ruthless ways, and yet on the other hand, she is a much liked celebrity with a significant amount of press attention in wide ranging publications from serious newspapers, to women’s fashion and celebrity magazines and television interviews. She loves her five year old daughter, Ophelia, to bits, and is highly protective over her. She still carries the emotional and physical scars of her kidnapping when she was younger, and often has a team of people to secure her home and places of work so that no one can try to do it again, fearful of ever having to go through such an awful experience again. However, she never lets her fear of the possibility it could happen again and the pain from the experience show, and instead puts on a confident look and a dazzling smile to the rest of the world as if she doesn’t have a care in the universe.
