Background: Nathanial Walker was born in Iowa City, Iowa in 1959. From the time he could walk, Nate was always going out in the rain, despite protests from his parents. When he was five, Nate knew exactically what he wanted to do with his life. He wanted to be a storm chaser like the ones who frequently visited his small hometown searching for storms and tornados. One of the groups that frequented the restrauant his parents owned thought of Nate as their mascot, making sure to bring him pictures and treats from their adventures. It was on one of their visits that Nate�s natural talent was found. He was what the storm chasers called a human barometer. He could tell when it would rain or thunderstorm, and how long it would last. His older brother had the same talent and when they were ten and fifteen, Marc and he would go on chases with a local group, learning everything they could. When Nate went to college for field study of storms, his brother, who had graduated already, promised him a job in his group.

It was at college that Nate met Kristina Phillips, and in his last year in college the hooked up, even though she was married already. What came from that relationship was Ashleigh. When he found out he had a daughter, Nate immediately went to their home to see her. That didn�t go over too well with Kristina�s husband and after a nasty battle in court Nate had only summer visitations with his daughter.  Once out of college, they teamed up and became a one truck outlet, chasing storms and photographing them across the country. After a year, they were discovered by NSSA and received federal funding, and a team. This is where Nate first met his Jenny. She was just as old as him and quite beautiful, and after six months of chasing together, they were dating and were an inseparateable team, almost able to chase without talking at all, but know what the other was thinking. With Jenny and when Ashleigh �Storm� could come out into the field, he felt ontop of the world. But Ashleigh started modeling and couldn�t come in the summer anymore and his world slowly came in on him for a while. Hating what he had become, he decided to ask Jenny to marry him. She accepted and within a month they were married and expecting a child. When Marc, named after Nate�s older brother was born, his world brightened a bit, but not being able to see Storm hurt him bad.

A year after Marc was born, his world changed once again. Marc was staying at his parent�s house for the summer and they were once again on a chase. But this one was different. The path of the tornado shifted in front of his truck and tossed into his brother�s van. Jenny and Marc were killed instantly and Nate was in intensive care for almost a year before being allowed out. By that time, the reality had sunk in. But seeing his Marc brightened his black world enough to keep him going. He continued chasing but instead of going full force like he used to he would hang back with the doplar equipment and monitor the storms. When Storm was 15 he finally got to see her again, but she had changed drastically since the last time he�d seen his little girl. He instisted that Kris get her help but when she refused he took her and her husband to court once more. He won custody but not before Kris could take off with Storm to Japan. It took him a year and a half to track them down before he went with Marc to get her. They were returning when their flight went missing.
