| Background: Kit’s early life is somewhat complicated. He was born to William Stark, but as a bastard son to a woman who was not William’s wife. William never told his wife or Kit himself who the mother was, and it is a mystery to this day. However, despite Kit having been born out of marriage, as a bastard son to a woman who William was having an affair with, instead of William treating it as the shame it usually was and refusing to acknowledge Kit, he did the opposite, and took the boy into his home to bring up as his own son much to the displeasure of his wife who understandably hated the thought of a son produced by her husband’s affair with another woman being brought into the family. Kit was given the same education and treatment as any Stark born in marriage, and he soon started to prove he lived up to the Stark name, showing the same wit and quickness in lessons as the other Stark boys over the years. |

| However, when he was 14, William Stark died, leaving Kit in the sole care of his wife who hated the bastard the son. She refused to keep him in the home, despite her late husband’s wishes, and instead of taking him on as a step-mother, she cast him out of her house. William’s older brother, Lord James Stark, had always had a liking for Kit, a bastard child born out of sin or not, and he took him in, adopting his nephew as one of his own children. He resumed his education with ambitions of going into politics, but he was realistic that he would have to become a civil servant to work behind the scenes in politics with his unsavoury heritage, rather than become a public figure. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Surprisingly, Lord James’ three own children welcomed him with open arms and treated him as one of their own. All were older than him, and it was George Stark who took the most interest in him. At 14 he thought it was friendly advances, it was only when he was 17 that he realised George was seducing him, and it worked. The older, experienced and sophisticated man was only a cousin by blood, and they were brothers by adoption only, making a relationship between the two possible...and that was what George set his sights on. George seduced the pretty young man, but they kept their relationship a secret from the others in case they disapproved...not only were the family lines complicated, but they were two men after all. Kit was awe filled by George, and easily fell in love with the charming man. Even when George would leave him for long periods, he didn’t question it, busying himself with his own university studies. The relationship became turbulent between the two men, George finding use in Kit’s new position as a civil servant, and whilst sometimes he would hold him all night, he could just as easily be violent with him. Kit remained with him however, too in love to leave him, and too infatuated with the powerful man to dare leave him. Sometimes their sexual relationship became violent, leaving Kit confused as to how George could hurt him, when other times he could be loving and doting on him. His violence towards him both in and out of the bedroom set alarm bells ringing in Kit’s mind, along with the longer periods of time he spent away, yet he was still so taken with George he pushed them away. |

| It was only when Miranda, George’s sister and Kit’s adoptive sister, told the family with fury how George had been sexually abusing her son that Kit finally saw through the charm filled, passionate man. Kit was horrified at what his lover had done to Jason, as well as being racked with guilt and pain that he hadn’t realised before to stop it. He broke off their relationship, and tried to bury himself in work. One night, he walked for hours in London, trying to sort his head out. He found himself on a bridge, and in a moment of clarity, he jumped into the river, determined to drown himself in the icy waters. He was dragged out though, and ran straight to his friend’s house to try and make sense of things, having no idea why he had attempted something so ridiculous now the shock had woken him up from the daze he’d been walking around in. His friend helped him get through the next few weeks, and he finally felt he could go to Jason. Miranda had moved away with her son, but she allowed Kit to see him. They remained in frequent contact, Kit determined to help and support Jason in anyway he could to try and make up for not having worked it out to stop George from hurting him. | |||||||||||||||||||
| George, however, was still often to be found in his brother’s, Jerome, house, the place where Kit spent many nights a week staying at for the convenience of work. It was awkward, George often making suggestive comments to him or snatching a feel as he went past, but he couldn’t exactly say anything to Jerome as the relationship they’d once had was still a secret. He tried to ignore him as much as possible, and instead focussed on Jerome’s youngest son, Jack, his nephew. The two became close, and Jack loved to spend time with his Uncle Kit. Yet, the smiling, happy boy was slowly driven away and replaced by an angry and moody young man, and Kit had no idea why. Jack started to push his once loved Uncle away, seemingly in anger, and yet Kit didn’t know why. In the end, he let him be as seemed to be his wish, and started to spend all of his spare time with Jason instead of dividing it between them. His career moved from strength to strength, and it was clear he was a ‘high-flyer’, a natural to the skilful role as a civil servant, the very difficult job of running the country from behind the scenes, and of course, manipulating politicians without them realising he was doing so. He was knighted at a relevantly young age, becoming Sir Christian Stark for his contribution to the British Government, and has made a success of himself despite all the odds. When Flight 388 went missing with his nephew, Jason, onboard, he refused to believe that they were dead. Going to a close friend and business associate, Xenia Moriarty, who was well known for her amateur interest in flying, he begged her to take him out to try and find them. They mapped out several routes to pursue and searched for two weeks until sadly their own craft went missing. |

| Personality: He is a considered man through and through. Although he could seemingly reach a critical decision in moments, his mind would have been working hard on the dilemma. He has few qualms about dealing with undesirable people in a quick, deliberate and harsh manner if it either achieves his goal or is part of what he considers to be the bigger picture. On the whole, he makes a most excellent advisor as well as leader, whether the official leader realises it or not. Most people see a quiet man when they look at Kit, a man who prefers to sit or stand in a corner of a room during a gathering and watch everything and everyone else with sharp eyes. Someone who doesn't speak very often, but when he does, you make sure that you listen. But of course, there are a few who would give you a very different description, of a man with a wicked sense of humour, a warm soul and an even adventurous heart. Christian has 4 phases of anger...he will start completely calm and unphased, and then on to mild irritation, that in turn leads to annoyance, and on very, very rare occasions when he truly loses his temper, he becomes livid with fury. That is perhaps because he is in truth a very passionate man about everything in his life from his enjoyment of good wine right through to his work, but he very rarely shows it, or sometimes not even allowing himself to feel it. |
