Background: Jada Ewing was born on Friday the 13th to David and Maggie Ewing.  Maggie was superstitious and always thought that Jada was bad luck because of her birthday, but to her father she was the perfect little girl. Two years later brother Jason was born.  It was a year later after Jason's birth that the marriage began falling apart, and when Jada was 4, her parents got divorced.  Jada and Jason moved to Los Angelas Californa with there mother.  When Jada was 7, she was driving with her mother when her mother ran a stop sign and collided with another car. The car caught on fire and a bystander pulled out the seven year old from the car.  Maggie died instantly but Jada survived but her eyes was injured.  Her father payed for the best doctors, and countless surgeries but Jada was declared legally blind. She could see shadows in bright light through time but her she never regained any real sight. Her father payed for the best tutors to teach her braile and teach her to live independantly when she got older.  Jason helped his older sister become independant and watched her like a hawk.

When Jada was 10, David met Vivian Raine at a teacher parent confrence at Jason's school.  Vivian had an 11 year old daughter named Nicole. The two became quick friends, and started dating instantly. Jada instantly became friends with Nicole and Vivian when they were introduced. When Vivian and David married, Nicole began watching out for Jada taking her on walks, and helping her through daily routine. Jada begin enjoying walks outside and snow.  The two became quick sisters and enjoyed sharing clothes and secrets. When Jada was 15, Vivian and David put Jada in highschool with Nicole and Jason.  The two of them helped Jada go on through a normal day.  With there help, Jada graduated top 4% of her class, and attended college. At college, it was the first time she was away from Nicole and Jason and fended for herself. In college, Jada tried out for the swim team. It was the first time she had the courage to do anything like that. She became a part of the swim team, the first blind person in the history of the college to compete and win 3 champion ships in swimming. It was here where she met Garrett Longway, a computer major and captain of the male swim team. Garrett was attracted to the whit and her smile immediatley. And Jada was attracted to the way he made her see the world for the first time with out over protecting her.  The two enjoyed spending time together and swimming and dancing.  With Garrett, Jada became independant and learned more things.

Jada graduated top of her class in college, and began doing audio taping of books for the deaf. When she was 23, her and Garrett married in a simple ceromonie with only there families in present.  After they were married, Garrett and Jada moved in with Nicole so Garrett and Nicole could both be there for Jada if the other isn't. Nicole won a contest in 'Women's Day' magazine for a trip to Tokoyo for two. Nicole offered the trip to Garrett and Jada but Garrett wasn't able to take time off work, so he told Jada to go spend time with her sister.  The two were on the way back when they went missing.
