Background:

Byron Lovelace was born on the 3rd of August, 1977, in Oxford, England. His father, Benjamin Lovelace, had inherited the family’s fortune which had been earned with the industrial revolution and his mother was the second daughter of a duke. Byron was the third son, a small child until he reached the age of seven and started to grow properly. Benjamin Lovelace believed in discipline, but young Byron was a calm child and rarely got punished.

Byron was sent to Eton, like his brothers had been. But while his brothers were both strong and active in sports, Byron only stretched himself as far as fencing and horseback riding, which he was good at. He was good in languages at school as well, but his interests were more in the arts. He loved the theatre, and from an early age he wanted to work with it. But with no talent in acting, the best he could hope for was as an owner. His childhood friend, Rhett Huntley, wanted to become an actor and they had planned to have Byron buying a theatre and Rhett performing in it.
Byron’s family life was chaotic, to say the least. He distanced himself more and more from them, or at least tried to, yet he would always seek their approval. His marks were good, and he had a good future ahead of him, if he could only pour his passion for theatre into something else. Still, he tried his best to at least appear to be interested in the other subjects he took.

After graduating from Eton, Byron went to Oxford to study law. He was in this second year when Rhett was attacked and put in the hospital in critical condition. Byron went to him as soon as possible, only to discover that the attacker had cut Rhett’s face. Byron had for years loved Rhett as more than a friend, but his fear of rejection was more powerful than his need to be loved by Rhett. He stayed by Rhett’s side, helping him recover and tried to be supportive. When the scars were revealed, Byron did not shy away. In fact, he did not find them as horrible as Rhett did, not seeing how they could disfigure his face.
With Rhett’s acting career in ruin, Byron decided that it would be better if they both bought a theatre together, and Rhett was the director. He left Oxford to work full-time at the theatre. He took his funds, knowing he would get more, until he discovered that his family had cut him off. It only left him with enough money to buy 30 % of a theatre, plus give some money for getting it to work. Rhett was fine with it, believing that Byron would get more money when he was 30.

Byron didn’t mind the financial separation from his family any more than he minded being away from them. The theatre and Rhett became his life and the small apartment in London with the low rent and low standard only made him feel more independent. But the relationship between Byron and Rhett had changed, divided by money. Byron felt like Rhett was his boss and did what he could as an employer instead of as a part-owner. When Rhett fell for Julia, all hopes that Byron had ever had were shattered with the evidence of his friend’s interests. Even when Julia broke Rhett’s heart Byron did what he could to make his friend happy, including suggesting women he could date.
Byron was travelling from Tokyo to Seattle with Rhett when he went missing, and is now presumed dead.

Special notes:

Byron is shy of nature, but his want to please others as well as help often make him appear more outgoing. He has a good practical mind and is no stranger to trying new things as well as doing physical work, despite his slender frame and bookwormish looks. He is quick with smiling to Rhett, but to others he tried to appear more of a professional. He carries his heart on his sleeve and can easily get hurt by an offhand comment, but tries to hide it the best he can. Despite it all, he is good at the stiff upper lip thing that the English aristocracy is renowned for, even if technically his family is more old money.
