Disclaimer:I suppose I should put one of these things in at some point, so I don't own Quatre, Trowa, Heero, Duo, or Cathrine, or Gundam Wing at all for that matter. If you think I do, you're smoking something funky. If I really did own Gundam Wing, it would have been a lot longer, there would have been *way* more shounen ai, and it would have had tons of kawaii squishy (sappy) moments. I also don't own Wonderful;it's a great song by Everclear. However the rest of the characters are *mine*. *Hugs Alea-chan*
I also though it might be a good idea to translate some of the words I'm using, so I don't confuse everyone so much.
Onegai-Please
Yamete-Stop it
Doushite-Why
My website is back up, if anyone's actually interested. Not a lot at the moment, but it's getting there. It's at http://Okami_N_Akume.tripod.com
*Extreme* angst in this story. I made myself depressed just writing it, but when I'm hit by the Mallet of Inspiration (tm)...*Shrugs* This takes place in the future. Trowa and Quatre are married, as are Heero and Duo, and all the pilots have kids. Now I have to go before Trowa tries to lock me in my wardrobe with Relena and Dorothy again for what I did to him. *Glances around suspiciously, then runs off*
I close my eyes when I get to sad
I think thoughts that I know are bad
{A four year old Alea, laying on the bed in her room, tears streaming down her cheeks as she listens to voices arguing loudly. ~Why won't they just go away?~ The voices get louder. ~SHUT UP!~}
Close my eyes and I count to ten
Hope it's over when I open them
{The sound of something smashing is heard, and she covers her ears, sobbing. ~Onegai, YAMETE!!~}
I want the things that I had before
Like a Star Wars poster on my bedroom door
{She stares blankly out the window of yet another hotel room. She can hear Quatre in the next room, sobbing quietly. ~Doushite, Papa? Why do you do this to us?~}
I wish I could count to ten
Make everything be wonderful again
{She peers through a cracked open door, watching silently as Trowa appologizes profusely, begging for them to come home, and Quatre forgives him. ~I wonder how long it'll last this time?~ she wonders bitterly.}
I hope my mom and I hope my dad
Will figure out why they get so mad
{Once again she hides in her room as voices yell a few doors down. This time however, she simply sits on her bed, staring blankly at the door. ~Will they ever stop?~}
Hear them scream, I hear them fight
They say bad words that make me wanna cry
{She flinches slightly as a particularly loud and vular phrase is screamed, tears welling in hereyes. She blinks, wiping her eyes roughly.}
Close my eyes when I go to bed
And I dream of angels who make me smile
{Alea giggles happily as she plays with a young boy who's face she can't quite see. They chase each other through a field, laughing.}
I feel better when I hear them say
Everything will be wonderful someday
{The boy stops suddenly, turning around and hugging her tightly and murmuring that everything will be all right. She hugs him back, smiling. She wakes up abruptly to find herself in her bed. She curls into a ball, a single tear sliding down her cheek.}
Promises mean everything when you're little
And the world's so big
{She sits silently by a window, staring out at the rain, her coat in her lap. Quatre stands in the doorway, biting his lip and glancing at the clock, then looking out into the empty driveway.}
I just don't understand how
You can smile with all those tears in your eyes
Tell me everything is wonderful now
{She stares up at Quatre blankly as he smiles at her and says that he's probably running late. She turns back to the window as Quatre fights tears.}
Na na na na na na na
{She's still sitting there hours later, despite the fact that it's too dark outside to see anything.}
Please don't tell me everything is wonderful now
{She wakes up later to the sound of whispered arguing. She cracks open an eye to see Quatre gesturing to her angrily while Trowa simply shrugs, saying it couldn't be helped.}
I go to school and I run and play
I tell the kids that it's all okay
{She sits at table in school with her lunch in front of her, untouched as she stares blankly at the wall. Hearing someone call her name, she turns to see Takara and Meiran looking at her worriedly. She smiles and says that she's just thinking.}
I like to laugh so my friends won't know
When the bell rings I just don't wanna go home
{She giggles at something Solo says, then stiffens when the final bell rings. Takara asks her what's wrong, but she smiles and says it's nothing and walks away. Her friends stare after her, all looking worried.}
Go to my room and I close my eyes
I make believe that I have a new life
{She lays on her bed, eyes closed, smiling faintly as she imagines walking tightropes and throwing daggers with Cathrine in the circus.}
I don't believe you when you say
Everything will be wonderful someday
{She talks to Cathrine on the phone. Cathrine tells her it'll be okay. Alea just stares at her blankly, and Cathrine tries to smile before hanging up. Alea walks away silently, while at the circus, Cathrine wipes away tears.}
Promises mean everything when you're little
And the world is so big
{Alea, Trowa, and Quatre are walking down a street together, Trowa and Quatre arguing as usual. Alea's eyes light up as they pass a store and she sees a pair of sneakers in the window. She glances down at her own tattered pair, then up at her parents, calling out to them, but they keep walking, not hearing her. Her face falls as she glances back at the shoes again, then sighsand hurries to catch up to them.}
I just don't understand how
You can smile with all those tears in your eyes
When you tell me everything is wonderful now
{She sits by another window, staring out at the darkness. Duo squeezes her shoulder gently and tells her they'll be there soon.}
I don't wanna hear you tell me everything is wonderful now
{She snorts in disbelief, jerking her shoulder away. Duo bites his lip, going to stand by Heero,who hugs him, both looking worried.}
I don't wanna hear you say
That I will understand someday
{She sits silently in the car as Quatre tries to explain that the mission took longer then they'd expected. She ignores him.}
No, no, no, no
{He tries to hug her and appologize, but she pulls away.}
I don't wanna hear you say
You both have grown in a different way
{Trowa storms out after a particularly nasty fight. Quatre looks up from where Trowa had pushed him to the ground and sees Alea standing in the doorway, staring at him blankly. He struggles to his feet and tries to smile at her as he begins to explain what happened.}
No, no, no, no
{He reaches out to put a hand on her shoulder, but she turns and runs back to her room, locking the door.}
I don't wanna meet your friend
And don't wanna start over again
{Quatre has taken her to a business luncheon with him and is introducing her to a couple of his clients. One women smiles and says what a charming little girl she is and reaches out to shake her hand. Alea gives her a glare to rival Heero's death glare, then stalks off to a corner of the room and sits down with a scowl. Quatre appologizes for her behavior, glancing over at her worriedly.}
I just want my life to be the same
Just like it used to be
{She picks up a disk off her dresser and presses a button. A picture appears above it of Trowa with her on his shoulders, an arm around Quatre. She throws it across the room and watches it shatter. She walks to the door, where Quatre has been yelling for her to come out. She opens it and looks at him as though she has no idea what he wants.}
Some days I hate everything
I hate everything
{At school, a boy makes a comment about Alea's parents. She spins around without warning, slamming him into a wall and punching him repeatedly. Blood begins to stream from his now broken nose and split lip. She keeps hitting him until a teacher grabs her and yanks her back. Her eyesare blank and unseeing.}
Everyone and everything
Please don't tell me everything is wonderful now
{She sits silently in the principal's office as the principal, Trowa, and Quatre all try and get her to tell them why she beat up the boy. Suddenly she looks up at them all, blinking in surprise as though she hadn't even realized they were there.}
I don't wanna hear you tell me everything is wonderful now
{A month later Quatre smiles happily as he tells her that she's going to have a younger brother. She looks at him for a long moment, then nods before heading to her room, Quatre looking confused and worried. She shuts the door and walks over to the window, silently vowing to keep her brother from becoming like her.}
