It was just another typical summer's day at the Winner Estate. None of the gundam pilots had to attend school for another one and a half month, which of course Duo is very grateful for. Anyways, the sun was shining as usual in July. Everyone in the estate was bored out of their minds. Heero of course was an exception, he just spent hours typing away on his laptop, only God knows what he was doing all that time. Wufei was one of those who already lost interest of the vacation time and took off for a little breeze on his motorcycle. Quatre was trying to get prepared for school already by reviewing materials for the next year but was dragged by Duo to watch TV with him. And lastly, Trowa was just sitting quietly in the living room reading a novel, accompanied by the noisy Deathscythe pilot and the quiet Quatre who were laughing and giggling over what was shown on TV.
"Ha, what are the chances of that happening?" Duo yelled out as he glued his eyes on the screen.
"Duo, this is only a cartoon, anything can happen," the blonde pilot replied.
"How in the world can Vegeta beat that android?" Duo interrupted once again obviously ignoring Quatre's words.
"Duo! Aren't you listening to me? Dragon Ball is just another animated TV series, it's not real," the Sandrock pilot said.
"Yeah, yeah, I heard ya Quatre buddy. Can you grab me some chips over there?"
"Duo, I really need to study. Can't I go back to my room now?"
"No...the best part's coming up."
After hearing that Quatre just gave up and sighed. Yup, that was the typical day at the mansion.
"Kiro, what's wrong?" the little brunette asked.
"I don't know Sakura, but I'm sensing a clow card somewhere here."
"Here?"
"Yes, com'on, use the cards you've captured and see what they have to say about this."
Sakura walked towards the desk in the corner of her room and reached for an ancient book. She began chanting as Kiro told her what to do. Suddenly the cards floated up one by one. The entire room darkened as the cards continued to fly up and started to swirl around them. The cards soon stopped and was left suspending in mid air. Then there was an eerie flash of lightning that struck the center of the circle the cards formed.
"Kiro, what's going on?"
"Don't worry, you're a card captor you shouldn't be afraid. The cards are just trying to lead us to the next card."
"Whatever you say Kiro.."
The light grew bigger and bigger as the seconds go by. No long afterwards, a gust of wind started to pull Kiro and Sakura into the frame of brightness.
"I guess this is a portal" Kiro said.
"You guess? You're supposed to be the guardian beast, you can't just guess. What happens if it leads us to a dangerous place?" Sakura complained.
"Well, too late to turn back." Kiro remarked as the two were sucked into the ray of light.
"Ouch, where are we?"Sakura asked as she looked at their surrounding.
There were trees everywhere. The sun shined with a golden glow. There were many different types of flowers in what seemed to be a garden. The only building in site was a huge mansion up ahead.
"Wow. It's beautiful here. I wonder who owns this place."Sakura said.
"Well, no time for us to enjoy the scenery. We have a card to catch," Kiro interrupted."Quickly Sakura, gather the cards. I feel a strong sense coming from that mansion there." He said as he points at the estate with his little paws.
It's been awhile since the two pilots watched TV, now they were arguing over who gets to play the Playstation 2 in one of the street fighting games.
"Duo, you said I can have a turn," Quatre whined.
"Ah, quit your whining. You already had your turn....an hour ago," Duo said in return. "Ahhhhh, look what you did, you made me lose my concentration."
The Arab then giggled as Duo handed the control over to him while the screen has the huge "Game Over" words on it.
"Darn that Ken!" Duo complained followed by a sigh. "Oh well, now I get the go bother Heero."
"Duo, that's not really nice."
"Shinigami is never nice," Duo said with a mischieve smile and skipped off (I mean literaly skipping like a joyful little kid) to the study where Heero was last seen.
"HHEEEEEEERRROOOOOOOO!!!!" Duo shouted out as he entered the study.
"Hn" was the only reply he received.
"WHATCHA DOIN'?" He asked with his usual happy yet loud voice.
"Duo, get out,"Heero suggested.
"COM'ON HEE-CHAN. Can I play?" Duo asked. "Do you have any games in that computer of yours? How about solitaire? Every computer should have that!"
"Duo, keep your hands off the computer," the Zero pilot said sounding very annoyed (I mean VERY).
"Quit bein' selfish, what does this button do?" the braided boy asked as he pressed the button.
"Initiating Shut Down...No files saved." the voice of the laptop suddenly said.
"Oh Lord," the deathscythe pilot said suddenly changing his own facial expression as he glanced over his shoulder to see the reaction of the Japanese boy.
Heero just sat there staring at the monitor. His face was emotionless. But just when Duo thought that he was off the hook, the cobalt-blue eyed pilot reached for his gun.
"Omae o Kuroso."
The American teen then ran out of the room as quickly as possible to save his own life. He knew, I mean everyone knew, that Heero wasn't joking. Duo thought that he'd be safe in the living room with Quatre, so he decided to head back there. Just then the door bell rang.
"I'll get it," Quatre shouted out as he put down his game control and headed towards the door.
//Must be Wufei, he probably forgot his keys again.//the blonde boy thought to himself as he opened the door. To his surprise, he saw a little short-haired girl holding a little stuffed teddy bear instead of the Chinese pilot.
"Hi," Quatre greeted in his always so friendly voice. "Can I help you?"
"Ughhhhh, yeah, I'm kinda lost and I was wondering if I can use your phone to call my dad," Sakura lied.
"Great cover up," Kiro whispered into her ears.
"Of course you can, come in," Quatre answered.
"Quatre, who it is?" Trowa asked as he approached the door.
"Oh, hmm, what's your name?" Quatre asked with Trowa by his side.
"Yeah, my name is Sakura and this is Kiro," Sakura said as she holds Kiro up to Quatre.
"Sakura? That's a beautiful name. I'm Quatre Raberba Winner and this is Trowa Barton. It's a pleasure meeting you and your stuffed bear. Please come in."
Sakura thanked the blonde pilot before entering the estate.
"The phone is in the living room. I'll show you to it," Quatre suggested as he closed the door.
Once again, the brunette girl thanked Quatre and the four of them began making their way to the living room. When they got there, Duo had already made his move on the game system and was pounding at the controls. He was so into the game that he didn't even notice that there were people in the room until Quatre began introducing Sakura. Kiro was obsessive with video games and he felt tempted to get his hands on the game, but he knew if the teens found out that he could talk, they would immediately throw them out like monsters before they can find the card. Suddenly a chilling feeling came over the guardian beast.
"pssst, Sakura. I'm getting a strong sense from that braided one over there," Kiro whispered.
"Ok, Kiro, just keep it down. I'll have to fake a phone call," Sakura whispered back.
Meanwhile, Trowa was confused of what was going on and Duo...well, at least he can really concentrate on something if he wants to. In other words, he was still hogging the game and didn't notice a thing.
"Awwww, how cute. You're talking to your toy," Quatre commented when he noticed that Sakura was talking to the little yellow bear on her shoulder.
Now, she looked really embarassed because she look like a total fool by actually going along with what Quatre said.
"Hmmm, yeah, he talks a lot," Sakura said while faking a laugh, "Ok, can I use the phone now?"
"Sure, it's right over there," Quatre answered pointing to the desk in the corner.
Sakura then walked towards the phone, but it was different from what she had seen in her life. The communication devices have monitors where people can actually see each other while they talk. From where she came from, the phones are still just used to send voice messages through the phone line. Anyways, she felt really weird about making a call that didn't exist but she did it anyway. She pretended that she was actually talking to someone, but since the gundam boys were so nice, they didn't bother eaves dropping on her. When she's done, she returned to Quatre.
"Thank you so much for letting me use your phone, I'd better be going now," Sakura said.
"You're welcome, do you want to stay here until your parents come pick you up?" the Sandrock pilot asked politely.
"No...that's ok, my dad can't pick me up until tomorrow, he's out of town right now. I called his cell phone," Sakura responded quickly.
"Tomorrow? I think you better stay here for the night. It's not really safe for a little girl to wander around here at night," Quatre suggested with concern.
"I don't want to bother you," the little girl said.
"It's no bother, it's actually kind of fun having more company," Quatre said while giving his charming smile.
"I don't know how to thank you," Sakura said in return.
"It's alright. Come Trowa and I will show you to your room for the time being," the blonde boy said as the three advanced upstairs.
Just then, Wufei came into the house and walked into the living room. Obviously, he's surprised to see some stranger walking up the stairs.
"Maxwell, who's the kid?" He asked.
There was silence.
"MAXWELL, I'm talking to you," the Shenlong pilot yelled.
"Oh Wuffie, it's you," Duo replied.
"Don't call me that," the Chinese boy said as he yanked Duo's braid. "Understand?"
"OUCH," Duo yelled out in pain, "yes, now let go."
Wufei let go of Duo's hair.
"What did you say before?"
"I asked you who the kid was."
"Kid? What kid?"
"Oh, nevermind." Wufei said after he saw that Duo was in one of his game modes, he knew that he wouldn't know what happened if a bomb dropped on him.
After Quatre and Trowa showed the two strangers around a little, Sakura and Kiro was left alone in the room they're staying in.
"Kiro, do you really think that the braided one is a clow card?" Sakura asked.
"I'm positive," Kiro answered."We have until tomorrow to catch it too. Meanwhile, we should try to figure out how to catch it first. I'll keep an eye on him. From what I saw so far, I think he might be the fool card."
"The Fool Card?"
"Yup, we'll have to get to him while he's alone, so we can make our move."
The conversation was interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Sakura? It's time for dinner," It was Quatre who said it.
"Ok, be right there," Sakura answered and walked to open the door.
"Wait, remember to bring me back something," Kiro reminded the girl. "While your're eating, I'll search around the house."
"Ok, Kiro," she said then went outside and walked to the dining room.
Dinner was awkward. Nobody talked much except for Duo of course, but he too kept quiet as dinner went on. Aside from that, everyone just ate their share of the meal and kept eyeing each other. Sakura was feeling uncomforatble around the pilots and the pilots were feeling the same about the situation. Duo can't stand the silence anymore so he "excused" himself from the table. Actually, he just stood up and carried his food to the living room and said he have to continue with his game. It was also an excuse to get away from Heero before his rage come back.
Meanwhile....
Kiro was on his search around the house when he came across the living room and saw the game system. He couldn't stand it anymore so he gave in to the world of video games. While he was enjoying the sensation of pressing the controls, Duo suddenly walked in with his LARGE plate of food. When Kiro saw him, he suddenly became stiff as a stuffed animal. Of course, being careful as Duo was, he just sat down right on top of Kiro.
"OUCH!!GET OFF!" Duo heard a sound and shrugged when he looked around and saw no one.
The braided boy then heard the same voice and stood up. When he did, he thought he saw a stuffed animal talk and screamed. (I know it sounds girly for him to do that but I need to do that to continue the story) Everyone came rushing into the room to see what happened.
"That thing talked..." Duo said as he pointed to the yellow bear like creature on the ground.
There was silence. Then everyone bursted out laughing except for Sakura that is.
"Maxwell, you've gone totally insane haven't you?" Wufei said when he stopped laughing.
"Baka..." was the only word Heero said.
"Duo, I think you've been watching too much TV lately," the unibanged pilot stated.
"What? Doesn't anyone believe me?" Duo said and began doubting his own thoughts.
"Sorry Duo," Quatre said afterwards. "But stuff animals can't talk."
"But...but..."
"He can talk," Sakura said.
Then everyone went silent again and looked at each other.
"See," the braided boy interrupted.
"But it's not what you think mister," Sakura continued while trying to come up with a story to tell. "Well, you see. He is one of those toys that makes sounds when you squeeze them."
To demonstrate, she squeezed Kiro a little and he said "Ouch get off!" as he tried to play along hoping that it wouldn't raise any suspicion. Afterwards everyone except for Duo was relieved. He still believe that the stuffed toy was alive but he didn't want to make himself into a bigger fool by coming up with lame theories. So he just walked away but in his mind he was planning how to proof that he's right.
When night came, Sakura pretended that she needed to rest and went off to the room she's staying in while the pilots stayed up playing ummm...playing... monopoly. (Yeah, sounds really boring huh?)
"Three, I need a three to get Broadwalk," Duo shouted out with the dice in his hands.
"Shut up Maxwell, you're going to wake up the whole world with that voice of yours," Wufei complained.
The American ignored the Shenlong pilot and rolled the dice. To everyone's surprise, he got a three.
"Yay, now...." He said with an evil grin. "It's time for all of you to suffer. Ha ha ha. I'll take a hotel with that."
"That'll be $2000 dollars (I'm guessing here)," Trowa said as he reached to grab one of the red pieces from the box.
"$2000?!?!?" Duo complained as he counted his money and realized he only have $1900.
"While we're still alive Duo," Heero said quite impatiently.
"ummm, ugh, I...I'll pass that," the Deathscythe pilot announced.
"Didn't have enough money did you?" Quatre asked and saw Duo nodding his head.
By the time Duo got his turn again, he, unfortunately, landed on top of one of Wufei's land which costs about $3000.
"Come on Maxwell, pay up," Wufei demanded.
Duo was counting all his one dollar bills but still didn't have enough.
"Well, it's getting quite late isn't it?" Duo suddenly said and pretended to yawn. "I better be going to sleep."
With that comment, he ran up the stair to his room.
"In other words, he don't have enough to pay," Heero said and everybody nodded.
While walking up the stairs, Duo suddenly felt really sleepy, well, he did wake up quite early in the morning today.....12pm. He then dragged himself to his room which was smack in the middle between Heero's and Trowa's. The braided pilot pushed the door open to his usual messy room. But just as he was doing so, something suddenly caught him by his limbs.
"What the hel...*sees Death Angel giving him the "Death Glare"*...I mean what the heck?" Duo said out loud.
"Alright Kiro, we got him right where we wanted him," Duo heard Sakura's voice said.
"What do you think you're doing here brat!!!" Duo said as he tries to untangle himself from what had caught him. "Get me out of this thing."
It was hard for Duo to break free. The entire room seemed to be a jungle. There are branches coming from all directions and some of these was what trapped Duo. If you watch card captors, you've guessed it, it's the Wood card or something like that.
"Sakura, use the Clow Key," Kiro yelled out.
When the Deathscythe pilot saw the little flying bear talk, he was shocked to find out that he was right all along.
"I KNEW IT, you can talk you little stuffed thing," Duo yelled out.
"Who are you calling a thing?" Kiro asked sounding quite annoyed as he flied closer to the American boy.
Just then Duo managed to break one of his arms free and quickly grabbed on to Kiro as he approached.
"Ahhhh, let me go," Kiro cried out for help and decided to byte the hand that trapped him.
"OUCH!!!" Duo screamed out in pain. "You little...."
"Sakura, NOW!" Kiro demanded.
The little brunette girl then reached for a little necklace and chanted something about the Key of Clow. Suddenly the small key-like object transformed into a large key with a bird beak and what seems to be like wings on it.
"Hey cool, can you do that again?" Duo asked quite amused rather than being fearful of what may happen to him.
"Fool Card, return to your power confined!" Sakura shouted out as she hammered the Clow Key to the direction of Duo...
*What's going to happen to our, I mean my favourite pilot? Find out next time on Dragon Bal.....I mean on part 2 of Awakening the Unthinkable.
Death Angel: So....how's the story?
Duo: Great! I love it, it's all about me.
Wufei: It's stupid!!! I had..what's it...two lines???
Death Angel: No Trowa had two lines. *Turns to Trowa and says sorry* You had about seven.
Wufei: Well, big difference. I still think it's stupid. The story line is totally out of control and....
Death Angel: *ignoring Wufei and his complaints* So how did you think about it, Heero, Trowa, Quatre? *Everyone just shruggs*
Wufei: Hey I'm still talking here!!!!
Duo: Unfortunately, we hear ya Wu-man.
Wufei: What's that supposed to mean, Maxwell?!?!
Death Angel: Anyways....*ignoring the argument*...most importantly, what did you think about my fic so far. Feedback and suggestions are always welcome...so e-mail me! I promise to give Heero, Quatre, Trowa, and Wufei bigger parts next time. Ok, that's it for now. Thanks for reading. ^_^
