A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF...

Lareena

Greetings All:

I was born in Port Angeles, WA, but grew up mostly in Salt Lake. I graduated in 2001 from the University of Utah in Film Studies and have a great love for movies and filmmaking.

My hobbies include writing science fiction (read some of my stories! ), reading, walking, art, and movies.

Irish folk music is my favorite, with the Corrs being at the top. Enya, so very close to the top, along with the Chieftans. I love Irish folk music. Other than that, I like classical, and some country,  and Fresh Aire, though I am starting to like Barenaked Ladies, Alanis Morissette, Indigo Girls, Madonna, Savage Garden and Ace of Base. I play the piano and organ a little. I also play the tin whistle, sometimes. I like to sing.

Of course, my favorite movie is the Lord of the Rings trilogy with Harry Potter as a close second. I also like the Matrix series, Hitchhiker's Guide, Moulin Rouge, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Shrek and Kung Fu Hustle.

    Got this off Humor.com

I also enjoy computer games, like:  Everquest (Al-Kabor, mac server. Sabsi), Baldur's Gate, Thief, Starcraft, Command and Conquer, Civilization, and so on.

Currently I am living in Kotzebue , Alaska in the Arctic Circle. The town has about 3000 people in it, 85% of which are native Alaskan eskimos. I work at the elementary school as a special education aide.

Our wedding

On May 27, 2007 I married Donovan Khevron Goertz. He works in Kotzebue at the jail as a corrections officer and dispatch. Aside from being handsome and wonderful, he also plays in the SCA , plays D&D, loves science fiction and fantasy and does a little writing. To learn more about him, go to his website.

Khevron recently stepped down as the Baron of Winter's Gate and we belong to the Canton on Ynys Taltraeth

Lately, for fun, I've been remaking the Lord of the Rings as a home-movie, starring my nieces and nephews. The first, "Our Fellowship," was 15 minutes long, and the second, "Our Two Towers," was nearly 25 minutes long. I finished part 3 "Our Return of the King" recently and uploaded it (along with all the others) to Youtube.

I have been working on a novel lately, called "Liege-sworn" which is based in my Kinthaldith universe. I have finished the rough draft but have a lot of work to go before I feel it is finished.

In October, 2005, I wrote a novel during the Nanowrimo writing challenge, where you write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. I called it "The Gods of Garran." It's designed to help procrastinators like me actually break past our barriers and put words on paper. I think it has helped and I encourage any other writers to try it out.

Read "The Gods of Garran."
