Registration Cost: $250.00 per participant

Under the quidance of Mark H. Deschinny, you will learn basic Navajo dye techniques using local plants and minerals, learn how to create and use traditional Navajo mordants and commercial mordants, learn history of Navajo dyeing.  Keep samples of dyed fiber, materials and recipes; Receive a copy of Isabel Deschinny's dye book, "NATIVE PLANT DYES, Series I: INTRODUCTION" (c) 1984.

- Registration cost includes all commercial yarns, local handspun Navajo-Churro yarns, 
local Navajo basket-making materials, supplies, dye booklets, tools and materials
 provided.

Schedule
Day 1
8:00 - 12:00 Introduction, hand out supplies, materials, FIELD TRIP!!! Identify & pick plants! 
12:00 LUNCH
1:00 - 5:00 Visit local store, prepare plants and minerals. 

Day 2
8:00 - 12:00 Dye fibers, lecture
 
12:00 Lunch
1:00 - 5:00 Dye fibers and dismissal


                                                      TIPS

1. Dress for the outdoors & dyeing: Wear cloths you don't mind getting dirty;  outdoor shoes for climbing, long pants, hat, sunglasses, gardening gloves
2. Bring snacks, WATER, juice, etc...
3. Bring your allergy medication.
4. Bring your sunscreen, lip balm, bug repellant, etc...
