The Resurrection of Antiquity

by Wine

Chapter 3-Intimate

Mia awoke just as the sun was over head; she tried to move, slowly moaning as she felt the after pang of her bruises. Her arm was in a cast and a bandage was wrapped around her head; she went to the mirror, seeing she look like death it self.

“Your up,” proclaimed Cale entering the room. He had a large tray of food, Mia looked hungrily at him and her stomach answered in a growl. “I guess you’re hungry,” he said. She sheepishly smiled back at him as she sat on the edge of her bed.

“Thank you Cale, for so much. What exactly happened?” she asked as he planted the tray in front of her. With Cale looking on she tried to eat with as much finesse as she could, considering how hungry she was.

He sat there silently waiting for her to finish, his gaze on her, weighing, concerned, but always assessing. When she was done she frowned and collected herself, her eyes shifting back to Cale. She pushed the tray aside and straightened her shoulders.

As soon as he saw that she was ready he began, “After I found you I brung you back here and called the doctor and police. They fixed you up and let you remain here.... The judges found out and were appalled...they may need you to identify the man. The Committee called and gave word that for their absence in security; they are going to allow you help with the find of the century.

“You mean the original tomb of the evil God, Amatsu!” she exclaimed. She blinked in amazement; what an opportunity, she thought.

“So you knew the whole time. It begins next week...so you must rest until then,” said Cale motioning for Mia to be calm.

“Cale where is everyone else?” she asked regaining her poise.

“It seems the Ancient called them and needs their help...while they are away I am to keep you out of trouble.” Mia grumbled at the last few words and crossed her arm, pouting at the fact they didn’t trust her.

“Mia...I have to go and perform a few tasks that I didn’t do, can I leave you here alone?” he asked almost teasingly.

“Oh sure, next time I’ll get my own baby-sitter,” she said sarcastically, but for once it felt good for once for someone to take care of her for a change. Cale just looked at her wondering how the Ronins could deal with a spitfire such as her.

“Be back later,” he said before disappearing from the room.

The Warlords and Ronins awoke early and were sitting at the long dinning room table when the Ancient walked in to brief them on they’re mission. A new will took over them and the adrenal began pumping through they’re bodies as the Ancient began speaking.

“Well due to my little inside information the 4 Demonic Lords want to take over the Realms again, they already have five. They’re looking for something and I don’t know what it is. We must go to these realms and try and protect the people from harm. Kayura will lead the way in my absence...now you must go.”

“Kayura stood in front while one by one they piled behind her and in a shimmer of light they vanished to another plane of existence.

They all glanced around looking at the glassy green fields that surrounded mountains. Into the mountains a steep valley formed and ended by a brook that looked of pure water. It was a spitting image of Earth’s geological forms but in an odd splendor; One by one it shocked the armor bearers.

“Put these on,” said Kayura breaking the silence. She handed each man a gray cloak, as they look puzzled at her.

“Why do we need these?” asked Ryo.

“You’ve never been to this realm correct. It may look like Earth but it’s not in your advanced stage. Besides they don’t know about your jeans and designer clothing...I don’t want us standing out any more than we already do. We are going to be traders try not to speak unless spoken to...”

“We understand...” said some of them while the others nodded. Kayura motioned that they start walking once she was pleased with the response that she was getting from the guys.

The walk seemed like hours in a few minutes they had begun, the suns beamed down upon they’re heads causing the cloaks to become very uncomfortable. The trail seemed to grow inconsiderably longer and no shade was in sight for them to rest. Most of their clothes were soaked with sweat and they were dying for a cup of water.

Just when all hope seemed lost Kayura spoke again, “We’re here now, behave your selves...try and get some info on these people. Meet me here in an hour.”

The guys took off in pairs as Kayura was left alone; each heading in a different direction

Cale lit a small candle and carefully enter a small den. He went to his closet and begin to dig threw clothes and boxes. He was so concentrated on finding what he was looking for he didn’t even hear the door crack open. Kusinada in his dreams seemed so surreal he was having trouble distinguishing the time frame between the realms, day, and night.

He had to find it, and when he did he would find what made her do this to him. He caught a slight glimpse of a golden lock. He launched more clothes, as he became closer to the bottom of the chest.

“So you are here...I thought he was lying,” came a voice. Cale lifted his head only to see a large muscular man sitting on his bed. His hands and neck were decorated with jewelry; showing his wealth while the rest of his body was dominated by gray armor with a small insignia. His dark brown hair covered his eyes as he sat with his head cocked to one side.

Cale’s mouth and other facial expressions must of gave his surprise away for the next thing that came out the man’s mouth was, “Don’t look to surprised dear friend...I told you we’d meet again...whether it be heaven or hell.”

“Mmm., I see. Well what can I do for you Yamato.”

“Oh nothing out the ordinary...just a little information. Who was that girl with you the other day...It’s a shame what happened and all, he said standing to show he was as tall as Cale himself.

“How would you know?”

“Well...” he began as his body turned into a short plump man again. “A fellow had his eyes or your woman companion so I gave him a anger release spell, after she rejected him.”

“So you made him take it out on her, Why?” he said nearly yelling. He usually kept his calm but when it came to the innocent and helpless there were no exceptions.

“To do what Hoderi told me...capture you.” He said bluntly; as though he were explaining it to a child. He knew and Cale knew him, he thought this fight was to be very challenging and without thinking he began smiling bringing Cale’s anger to a full boil.

“Taking orders from a worthless pig I see...not like you. But since you choose to do your dirty work by a devilish being, I suggest you get started,” said Cale accepting his challenge.

Yamato flung his cloak on to the ground and raised a staff that appeared in his hand. Cale called upon his armor and stood directly in Yamato’s path. Yamato was the first to make a move; a large ball of magic appeared in his hands as he launched himself into the air.

Cale gracefully dodged the blow and began throwing punches at Yamato’s head so fast that the naked eye could not catch it. Yamato ducked sending a fist into Cale’s stomach, “Doesn’t this seem all to familiar friend?” he whispered in Cale’s ear as he was hunched over.

Cale stepped back gasping for air and ran the back of his hand across his mouth as a trickle of blood had been there a minute ago. “Yes all to familiar,” he said as he rushed Yamato.

He sent his knee into Yamato’s stomach to return the favor and then took his fists and rammed them into his back. Yamato growled in pain and stood again only to land back on the floor as Cale swept his foot under his feet sending him flying.

He jumped to feet and took his staff hitting Cale in the shoulders long enough to stun him. Cale tried to dodge the attack but he was sent into the air when Yamato took his staff and put it directly on Cale’s stomach and lifted him up.

Cale used his power to stop himself from going any farther and calmed down from the adrenal pump in his system long enough to think. If I don’t finish this soon Mia could come to harm.... But he is my friend even if he is one the other side.

Cale was lost in his thought as a kick was delivered to his back sending him rearing to the floor. Cale dizzily stood and floated to the air...eye to eye with Yamato. Cale teleported closer sending his fist at his chest...Yamato blocked some of the punches but began to weaken.

Cale stopped and pulled his arm back letting it fly...nailing Yamato in the face; he was out cold.

He walked back to his closet and called off his armor reaching for a small golden book; he stood for a moment looking at the wreck his room was now in and teleported himself back to Earth.

“So Hoderi...how did Yamato do?” asked the young man sitting in a chair glancing at his companion at the table.

“I don’t exactly know...it would of been better if those two were actually fighting and not playing,” he said smirking as though he expected as much from them.

“What?” the boy said peering into the mirror, it didn’t seem like they were playing at all to him. Cale and Yamato used to spar with all their hearts and now when it got serious they merely toyed with each other.

“They are much stronger than that little escapade led you on to believe.” He said turning away from the mirror and back to face the boy. “We’ll not rely on him anymore, I’m letting Kusinada handle it. She will be the end of him.”

“Was what we did right...to her?” he asked making his human age of eighteen seem as though he were a lost confused five year old. His bright blue eyes appeared hurt and lost as he was with Hoderi; he never knew what was up, down...left or right.

“It was necessary. By having this God come we will bring a utopia to earth and the other realms will follow. We need him, so what happened to you will not happen to anyone else. Now Mikoto I want you to go check on Kusinada and on her progress.”

“Yes Mi-lord, I will not fail you,” he said before departing from Hoderi’s presence.

“So Kusinada, how are you coming along,” asked Mikoto as he materialized in her room. It was laden with rugs and pillows and other materials from her travels. The colors were lavish blues and reds that brought out her spirit.

“Brother you decide to show your face, what courage,” she said stepping from the shadows in her room. She bore anklets and bracelets showing her dominance, her gray skirt and style of her shirt made her appear that of a gypsy. Her black eyes reflected the glow off the fireplace that blazed in the front of the room.

“I am not your brother,” he said nearly screaming he stopped gasping for breath trying to calm his anger. She always knew the things to say to get his anger to a full boil.

“Oh just because we are not of blood, my brother, we are by that of pact, the worse kind of kin might I add and what about the first oh two hundred and twenty years.”

“No we are not, he said seething. He couldn’t even think strait as she was torturing him with words.

“Or are you just trying not to take the full blame of your guilt by denying that now, after all these years. Honestly everyone knows except for you and that’s what makes you the fool,” she said sitting on a cushion, she seemed to be enjoying herself but truly missed him dearly and didn’t want him to remain in the shadows any longer.

“Fool, he chuckled, “Am I the one sent to death I think not,” he said truth fully

“We we’ll see, I have yet to lose and you will be placed in your grave if you don’t stay on you toes. That curse stays and there is no evading it. Do unto others...remember, I gave you that mark,” she declared. Mikoto reached for his neck, and growled at the memory of that horrid day.

“Stop Mikoto your power isn’t supposed to be used like that,” she cried. The barn was unusually quiet. Kusinada stood in her nightgown in front of Mikoto. He’s was wise, even though he was eight but she hadn’t trusted him with his magic yet.

“Oh relax, I won’t hurt you...Nomtusa norea fixuse,” he said. He wanted to prove to his father he could weld a spell as good as anybody and could be at his side when he took over. A green light shot from his hands imbibed her body and she slowly floated into, a few feet from the ground. She smiled at him as she hovered over a wagon full of hay.

He winced as he felt himself weaken and began to slowly put her down. The barn door snapped closed from the strong gust of wind, he turned to look and see, breaking his concentration. Her breath shot out from her mouth and she fell with an impact so bad her teeth chattered. She glared at him so strongly he backed up; he hadn’t seen her that angry since she realized who killed her people.

“Joracs limberum dianus,” she said waving her hands and flowing as though she were dancing but being completely involved in thought. He screamed as he felt the curse burned on his skin, the pain so agonizing that he rather had died at that moment. She stared at him in shock, she hadn’t known she could make one and with out the right teaching she could never make amends. “I’m dangerous,” she thought in her mind, “I don’t deserve this family.

She began crying as she rushed to his aid with her own hurt body. “My Mikoto, my dear Mikoto,” she whispered holding his limp body to her bosom.

Mikoto let go of those thoughts and his hand from his neck. Kusinada did not resume her conversation but merely look regretful. Mikoto shrugged the idea off; he refused to open his heart to anyone anymore.

“Well have you accomplished your task yet?” he asked breaking the silence in the room.

“Kia will bring it to me tomorrow, you can count on that, if not I will retrieve it myself,” she said as though it was something everyone knew. She soon began to mull at the thought of him, why had he really come to see her, but she didn’t want to read into it too much and left the thought hanging in her mind.

“I’ll make sure Hoderi knows this, he is worried that you may not be able to handle Cale,” he stated, he spoke as though he were asking her and not just inquiring.

“Is it he that is not sure, or is it you dear brother?” she asked.

“Don’t flatter yourself, as you said we will see. I will leave you to yourself, to beat him you will need a plan.” He said as he turned to leave the room.

“Don’t concern yourself so much I might actually think you care. Just do your job and I’ll do mine,” she said louder as he walked out of the door. She stood and whispering and murmuring to herself, “I will do mine don’t worry. You’ll see me at the grave.”
