Chapter 6
Where could she be, Ive never known her to be this late before, said Sage pacing the walk.
Yeah, but she might be busy with something. She has to keep busy with Anubis being gone. Hell be back in two weeks, said Ryo trying to comfort Sage. He wouldnt admit it but he too but he was worried about Mia.
Suddenly a car came screeching into the parking lot and right in front of the guys. The red jeep stopped and the guys piled in.
Sorry guys, I was so tired I laid down for a nap and forgot what time it was, said Mia removing her sunglasses. It was a hot day and the light was bothering her, she never wore glasses on days like this.
Its okay, you almost made us worry about you, said Sage ignoring the glare from Ryo.
Well Im a big girl guys. Even though Ive been married for two years now you still treat me that way dont make me get violent, she said mockingly. The boys smiled at the thought as she sped off.
The Council will now come to order, said a man beating the gavel on the desk. He looked to be late fifties. His rubbed his white beard as he sat down in a chair in the back of the room. The people hushed as he spoke.
The last few months tension rose in the air as the netherealm tried to fix what Belarus had done. People in both realms had been effected and they had to go back and remedy the evil he had spread.
It seems that we have many issues to solve for the new government in the netherealm, we will continue our discussion tomorrow at first light, he said hitting his tiny mallet again.
Anubis rubbed his temple with his fingers; he was tired of this. He didnt understand why he needed to be at the council for, I no longer live in the nether realm He stood up slowly and his silver haired comrade spoke.
Why dont you go get some sleep and well meet you in the hall for dinner, said Dais.
Kayura and Kale have already gone, so we should go too, said Sekhemet. They nodded as Anubis strolled off.
Anubis shut the door and threw himself on the bed. He missed Mia so much; being gone for one Earth month was too much for him. He waved his hand in the air and a small circle appeared. He mumbled some words and a light flashed. Anubis peered into the circle and saw Mia with Ryo and Sage in the car.
He looked at Mia pulling into the driveway and smiled as he noticed how small and vulnerable she looked just then. Her slender arms and legs so pale, wisps of her dark red hair escaping the band tying her hair behind her delicate neck, making her skin seem all the paler. She looked very pretty, wearing her loose sundress with a soft green print, and black sunglasses. She hardly looked like someones wife.
One of the boys took her arm to lead her out of the car, but she stopped and with drew it. He was sure she hand yelled something about not being crippled with a feigning levity. In the end they all laughed and he saw she sat on the porch as they went in the house. A worried expression was set upon her brow; he wanted to hold her so badly he thought he would loose his mind.
Years of marriage to her and she still could make him feel like a teenage boy with his first love. The woman had more spells over him than Talpa had ever could have imagined. He closed his eyes to envision her, he couldnt wait to get home not after this long trip.
After long moments, he sat up and a thought struck him. Anubis slightly grinned and grabbed his coat as he headed out.
Mia slowly thought to herself as calm currents picked up her hair. Why would I dream about that? Whats wrong with me, maybe I need Anubis, or something is about to happen. Questions drifted through her head as Mia closed her eyes as she felt a shiver go up her spine. Hes thinking of me again, she thought. I think the bond we have is much stronger than we thought. Shaking thoughts out of her head she jumped up and decided to start cooking.
Mia stood up and went into the house, but as she did she stared out into the distance as she took a deep breath. Something was going to happen but she wasnt sure if she was ready.
Mia were home, we have someone you want to see, said Kento calling into the house as he opened the door. Mia stepped out of the revolving doors and walked into the living room. Her face brightened until she broke out in a smile, Yuli, gosh youve gotten big. Oh Im so happy your home, she said bending over and hugging a wide-eyed figure.
He grinned back as she ran a hand over his mousy brown hair. He was much taller than when she had put him on the plane. He looked so grown up, she wanted to break down in tears right there.
Did you have fun at summer camp, Yuli. I see they have been feeding you well, she said.
Yuli nodded and began to tell details of camp. He was sad to leave his friends but happy to be home. Mia looked different to him, but he couldnt but his finger on it.
Mia you cut your hair, said Yuli appalled that she would even think of such a thing. But he liked it; it was shoulder length, but done up like a little girls ponytail. The boys laughed as Mia began to explain.
Yeah, not that much though, just a little experiment. Youve been gone for nearly three months Henry now I couldnt stay the same forever, said Mia imitating her favorite actress. Everyone was in an uproar of laughter and as it died down she persuaded everyone to move to the kitchen.
Yules tales of camp were a little hard to believe but had everyone in a riot, with everything from his accidents to the killer squirrels.
Mia slowly let out a breath as she felt a huge burden being released off her shoulders. Yule was home and soon Anbuis would be to and everything would continue on as they did before. After a quiet dinner and tucking the whole house in she settled on up to her room.
Mia opened her balcony doors and slightly leaned over taking in the night cool air. Her hair wrapped around her shoulder in a comforting motion. Moonlight spilled into the room as she heard a loud creak.
Yuli? said Mia turning to greet her guest. She crept passed the closet as a pair of arms wrapped around her waist. In fear she tensed up and a soft whisper was said in to her ear. She relaxed and turned and kissed him warmly, Anubis what are you doing here, she asked quietly.
Cant a man see his own wife. I havent seen you in almost a month. I missed you as soon as they settle on a plan I can leave, about another week Id say he said sadly.
Mia listened closely, but couldnt concentrate, all she could think about was how badly he needed a shave. She had never seen his hair quite this long. And it all looked messy as if he lost a little bit of control. A part of her exalted in the notion he lost it because of her, but she was too happy to hold on to the thought.
At first it was the barest brush of their lips, his hesitant, hers trembling. Then something shifted. Before either one could stop and think, their kisses became passionate, their hands quickening on each other, searching, grasping, their mouths locked and their breathing fast.
Mia had never known him to make love to her like this before, but couldnt question her lust. He seemed so different to her, it was so confusing and so good.
Anbuis kissed every inch of her from her lips to her neck. She was everything he dared to dream. More. A tenderness toward her rushed through him, a forbidden craving to know all of her. Kissing again, whispering against each others lips, her soft-moaning tune ringing in his head, driving him to a pitch of desire and only one thing could satisfy
Mia woke up only to find Anubis gone and sat in the morning coolness of her balcony, still in her nightgown, staring unfocused into the distance. It had been such a good moment last night, so sweet like the first time they made love.
She looked down in to the garden only to see White Blaze sitting in a beam of sunshine, licking his white striped paw, his tail twitching. She sat and wandered off again in how difficult it was to be married to someone like him and how enjoyable.
Soft footsteps approached her and she turned to see Yuli with a small box in his hands. He looked as though he had just woken up and was confused.
Yuli whats wrong and what is that? she asked him rising to meet him. She crouched down and peered into his eyes.
Nothing, but this was on the table and it said for Mia so I came up to bring it to you, said Yuli yawning and handing her the box.
Oh, she replied feeling a bit odd, why the present it wasnt her birthday and it was far from any holidays. She slowly opened the crush velvet box to see a small locket, with stones of every color on the top. On the back it had an inscription in which she could not read. A card was attached to the bottom and she tore it off.
She giggled slightly as she read the note. Okay Yuli you can go back down stairs, Ill be down in a moment to cook you breakfast.
Yulis face brightened at the thought but asked, Whos it from?
Anubis, she replied happily. Satisfied he skipped off and slammed the door. Mia sank back down in her chair as fell into her thoughts. I hope he comes home soon.
A leaf fluttered and fell into the water leaving a small ripple in the pool. The seasons were changing and several more leafs fell turning, changing the reflection. In frustration he pounded his fist on the side of the edge of the large stone. The echo boomed and died. Soon figures were formed in the waters lustrous surface. He saw people, arguing, talking, dancing, and conversing to their hearts content. Tears started to come to his eyes as bittersweet memories flowed through his mind.
This vision pool was slowly begun to glow, forming soft, bright colors. They came together like magnets forming an emerald haired maiden who appeared to be roaming through a garden. She looked at him as though she was looking into his soul for all the answers in the world.
Everything is going according to plan now. Soon the council will come together again, he said softly, Times were changing everywhere, Oh love how I wish you were here to see this he said rolling on to the warm bed.
She was misguided but in the end had done what was right and paid with her life. He forgave her but he would never forget her, nothing was going to stop him from getting to her not now, not ever. His thoughts devised into plans and dreams as the night wore on. The fire in the pit became a small flame as the soft breezes came making it dance upon the room. Shadows casted in the room slowly began to lull him to sleep.
He turned to see the shadow flickering against the fire in the room as his eyes were set a flutter. As he started to reach for the fire. Darkness swam through the room and he turned as his eyes-widened. Sprinting for the door he retreated to the window where he fell limply on the floor.
