Dragon Flames
Chapter 2
By: Malaca
The sky continued it's torrential down pour, unconsciously driving Kento insane.
"Why did it have to be lightning, or thunder, or rain? Why couldn't it be the Dynasty attacking again?" he whined to himself.
Rowen shot him an evil look. Kento glared back.
"Stop making such a fuss. You're going to have the teacher yell at us!" whispered loudly.
"Mr. Hashiba, do you have something to share with us?" his homeroom teacher asked him with a raised eyebrow.
"No, Sensei Tomos," Rowen said sinking in to his chair.
Kento smirked in his direction and received another glare from Sai.
~What did I do?~ Kento asked his friend.
Sai shook his head and turned his attention back to the Sensei. Kento rolled his eyes and grunted, scratching his butt before relaxing in to his chair. Kento then glanced over at Malaca who stood calmly behind the Sensei. She twirled her hair as she waited for him to shut up and look at her. Kento sneered at her knowing his hate for her was unreasonable. Malaca looked up and caught Kento's look. She looked sadly down towards the ground like a wounded puppy. Kento felt guilty for a second, but quickly brushed it away. Malaca sighed and shifted her feet again.
~When is he going to be quiet and turn around? This is getting really boring!~
Sai grinned as he felt her message brush his mind. He reached out instinctively to her and tried to calm her down before she did something drastic.
~Don't worry, Sensei Tomos always is long winded. He'll be done in a few minutes, have patience.~
~Patience, what is this patience? I'm so bored!~
~What are you doing in here anyway? Shouldn't you be with principal Reka?~
~I don't know where his office is. I was hoping the Sensei could tell me where it is.~
~Ooohh-~
~Sacrasim doesn't suit you Sai~
~I agree with Malaca, Sai, that's more of Kento's job~ Rowen said joining their conversation.
~I heard that!~
~Good~ Rowen answered.
~Could we not talk around the enemy? I don't want her touching my mind~ Kento said coolly.
With that they heard a loud snap as Malaca quickly broke the mind link with the others.
~Thanks a lot Kento!~ Rowen said.
~That was really rude~ Sai scolded him.
~So what!~
~You know what, don't even talk to me until you can talk civilly to her~ Rowen told Kento.
Rowen then broke his mind link to the others.
~I guess it's just you and me Sai, Sai?~
Sai had broken his link with his best friend at the same time Rowen did leaving Kento alone to his thoughts. He grumbled deeply. This all happened because she came in to this. She will pay for this, she will pay!
The Sensei finally finished his long speech on the Rules and Regulations of that school year. Malaca was dismayed to find that she had trouble staying awake to his long monologue. The teacher finally turned around and saw her standing there. Sai looked nervously over at Malaca. She had fallen asleep standing up! The Sensei growled with glee. A new victim for him to chew on.
~Malaca, wake up!~ Sai screamed mentally in to his friends head.
Malaca failed to answer him. The teacher prowled in front of Malaca, preparing for the strike. Sai looked around desperately. Everyone in the class was watching what was developing between the new student and one of the most annoying teachers in the high school.
"Wake up time!" the teacher yelled at Malaca taking a long ruler from the board.
He struck out with the ruler on to Malaca's shoulder. An arm shot up and caught the ruler from descending. Malaca looked up at the teacher from staring at the floor, her hand gripping the ruler tightly.
She smiled sweetly, "No need for that, I'm already up!"
The teacher dropped his jaw. Malaca bowed politely.
"I'm a new student here, and I was just wondering if you could show me where the principals' office is located. I would eternally grateful if you could be so kind."
"Umm-Umm, okay, I-, um?" the teacher stuttered.
The class stared; never before had Sensei Tomos ever been speechless.
"Or-, don't you know?" she asked miss reading the teacher's confusion.
"Um-, yes I do. Kendra? Kendra, come up here with your stuff," the teacher said absently.
A tall light skinned Japanese girl slowly picked up her books and walked over to the Sensei. Her long black hair had been pulled back into a ponytail. Kendra looked up at the Sensei, her almond eyes examining her teacher.
"Kendra, would you mind showing the new girl, umm-, what was your name?"
"Malaca," she said simply.
"Ahh-, yes. Kendra would you please show, Malaca, to Principal Reka's office?"
Kendra bowed slightly to her teacher, "Yes, I will."
The Sensei tilted his head to her and went on with his boring lecture. Malaca gabbed wide-eyed at the teacher. Kendra managed to pull her out of the classroom by the arm. The door was still open, and Malaca still stood there staring at the teacher. Kendra looked at the new girl oddly. She waved her hand in front of Malaca's face. Malaca turned and looked back at Kendra.
"Care to tell me what is so interesting for you to be staring at?" Kendra said warmly with a thick accent.
"The Sensei, I don't think I've ever seen someone so long winded live to be that old."
Kendra giggled.
"We weren't properly introduced. My name is Kendra," Kendra said extending a hand as they began to walk down the hall.
Malaca looked at the out reached hand. She took it warmly.
"And mine's Malaca."
"Where are you from, Malaca?" Kendra asked eager to discover all she could about the new girl.
Malaca's face darkened, "I'm from England."
Kendra nodded not noticing how stiff she had become.
"I'm from Africa."
Malaca raised an eyebrow, "You look Japanese to me."
Kendra blushed, "I was born here, but my mom is a Paleontologist, so she took me along to Africa. We came back here last year."
"Ooohh-, I get it," Malaca said slapping her hand over her forehead.
Kendra laughed again. Malaca was certainly a strange one.
"Well, here we are," Kendra told Malaca as they reached a green door.
Malaca groaned, "What ever happened to vacation?"
Kendra laughed, "That's what we all ask."
Malaca rolled her eyes and slowly entered the room.
"Bye, Malaca."
"Bye, Kendra."
Malaca entered a room that echoed bad taste in every corner. American trinkets were scattered around the room, conflicting with Japanese knickknacks. Malaca groaned softly to herself. The secretary in on of the dark corners of the room raised her eyebrows. Malaca headed over to her desk.
"Um-, excused me. I'm a new student here and I wanted to know if Mr. Reka is in."
"Ahh-, yes, He's been waiting for you. He's in his office now," the petite secretary answered pointing at a singular door.
Malaca nodded and slowly walked over to that door. She knocked politely on the door before waiting for an answer. The door banged open and Malaca barely had a chance to dodge it. A large, slightly balding man stood in the door frame. He smelled of old cedar chips. His warm eyes darted around the office, before resting on Malaca. He smiled at her widely. Malaca looked at him quizzically.
"May I help you miss?" he asked inclining his head slightly in her direction.
"Yes," Malaca answered bowing deeply, "I'm the new student here and I was told to see you for instruction of my classes."
"Ahh-yes. I remember now. Come in, come in."
She eyed the office door. It was so full of Mr. Reka's mass that she doubted she could enter. The principal caught her gaze and followed it.
"Hold on a second," he said as he moved out of the way of the door frame.
He sauntered over to his desk and plopped down in it heavily. Malaca shrugged her shoulders and followed. The room was lit up better than the rest of the office, but it still smelled like an infirmity. The man waved his had in her direction, giving her cue to sit down in one of the hard backed chairs present. She did so, pulling her skirt underneath of her. The principal eyed her before speaking.
"I hope you will not cause to much trouble, young lady."
Malaca shook her head vigorously at her cue. To herself she smiled knowing exactly what buttons to push to get the principal to favor her. She was going to have so much fun at this school! The principal caught her gleaming eyes and mistook it for an interest in school events.
"I hope you will enjoy our school, Miss. You'll be formally introduced to the students during first period, which will be in a few minutes. So'll if you wait here for a few minutes, I'll escort you to the auditorium."
Malaca nodded, then yawned. The clock slowly ticked, tapping away the seconds. Malaca yawned again, school what a bore!
~Hey can anyone hear me? Just to announce it to anyone who is physic inclined that I am BORED!~
~Hellooooooooo, out there?~
~Well I guess nobody's gonna answer my plea, yodellaaaheeoooooo~
~Now, I'm going to sing a duet, without the second part!~
~What is that called? Oh yes, a soloooo. You know I like talking to myself. Especially with these echooooooooossssss'~
Sage and Ryo exchanged glances as they received Malaca's message. Sai managed to hold in a giggle and got a nasty look from Sensei Tomos. He shrunk back down in to his seat. Kento snickered at his friend.
~Malaca?~ Ryo's voice entered their heads.
~Huh?~ was the answer.
~That's Malaca for you, off in one world without leaving one she's on~ Sage told them.
~Talking to the traitor again?~ Kento asked.
Rowen glared sharply at Kento before answering, ~Please tell the him, that this is the reason I am not TALKING TO HIM!~
~Geez, what got your goat?~ Kento asked.
Silence followed.
~What happened?~ Ryo's voice commanded.
~Kento is continuously degrading Malaca with every breath he takes!~ Rowen's mental voice yelled.
~Kento?~ Sage's voice questioned.
~Yeah?~ Kento answered.
~Is Rowen telling the truth?~
~So what if I am?~
~KENTO!~
~Hey guys? Just leave him alone. Don't force him to do what he feels is wrong~ Malaca's mental voice told them.
~But!~ Sage stuttered.
~But nothing. Let's leave it at that for now. Oh and before I forget you guys are going to get out of first period so you can be formally 'introduced' ~
~But they only do that when a couple of students are transferred here!~ Sai told them.
~I guess that I'll have some company then!~
~I hope that they're girls~ Sage said dreaming of them slobbering all over them.
~And like I'm not!~
~No, your taken~ Sage smirked.
~Oh, by who?~
~I'm not saying~ Sage answered glancing at Ryo with another superior smirk.
Ryo, understanding Sage's look, smacked him hard when the teacher wasn't looking.
~Owww~
The other Ronin's held in a snicker, fully knowing why Sage had been hit. Malaca just frowned in confusion. The principal rose from his chair and nodded towards the door. Malaca slowly sat up and arched her back as it cracked. Twisting and then cracking her sore wrist, Malaca then followed the principal out of the room.
~Guys, I've gotta go~
~Bye~ they all, except Kento, answered before the link was cut.
Sage winced as he briefly received Malaca's pain. He looked worriedly in to the distance.
'What was that all about? Where is that pain coming from?'
Hey all, Malaca here!
Sorry for the wait, but it's winter break and my teachers really loaded the work on my back! Oh well. I guess this will be my first story of the Millennium! How cool!
I just hope the Internet will not be affected by this change. Oh well, again. *sigh*
I still haven't got that much e-mail! What do you think I am, a wizard! I LIKE TO GET SOME FREAKEN' MAIL, SO FREAKEN E-MAIL ME. GOT IT? GOOD!
Just some more sadness and sugar on my part. When will they learn not to feed me this stuff! Not that I mine, of course. But you think they would be kinda smart about these kind of things. Especially after the "Light the kitty on fire episode" *another sigh*
