I think I love you Heero Yuy.

//I have a smile stretched from ear to ear
To see you walking down the road//

Every time I see you I get this unconditional, uncontrollable urge to smile. Like today, when I met you on my way to the beach. I wanted to watch the sun set.

//We meet at the lights
I stare for a while
The world around us disappears//

I was walking on one side of the street and you on the other. You didn’t seem to notice me so I crossed and flagged you down. ‘Oi Heero! Matte!’ You turned and stared at me with those eyes of yours. God! Those eyes! And for a second, though it seemed like a lifetime, my entire being was focused on you. Hell, that sounded corny. But that’s the way it was. Then you raised an eyebrow inquisitively. I could feel myself beginning to blush as I tried to speak. ‘Hey Heero!’ I managed to get out. ‘You wanna walk to the beach with me?’ This time both his eyebrows went up. I mumbled, ‘Nevermind.’ And began to walk away. ‘Duo.’ You called from behind me.

//Just you and me on my island of hope
A breath between us could be miles
Let me surround you my sea to your shore
Let me be the calm you seek//

We walked silently to the beach. It wasn’t an uncomfortable silence on my part, more a companionable one. Together we watched the sunset. It was the most beautiful moment I have ever had in my dark life. Of course, that might have had something to do with the person standing next to me. I watched you when I thought you wouldn’t notice. There was more expression in that face than I had ever seen. Was that a hint of a smile lurking in the corner of your mouth?

//Oh and everytime I'm close to you
There's too much I can't say
And you just walk away
And I forgot to tell you
I love you//

‘I could tell him now. I could tell him how I feel.’ But the painful fear of rejection tied my tongue in knots. ‘Isn’t it better to be able to be near you without telling you how I feel, than to risk your scorn and avoidance if I told you?… Isn’t it?!’

//And the night's too long and cold here without you
I grieve in my condition for I cannot find the strength to say I need you so//

It’s starting to get cold and I shiver a little. If only I could wrap myself in your warmth. If only I could tell you…

The sunset is over now, and the world is immersed in darkness broken only by the twinkle of far off stars and not so distant colonies. And still, we do not move. Gazing at the sky reflected in the water it is like being surrounded by a cool, resplendent heaven.

We begin to walk home and now I am shivering violently, my teeth chattering. ‘Baka.’ Was that affection in your voice? Nah, couldn’t be. ‘Why didn’t you bring something to wear?’ And with that you casually dropped your arm around my shoulders and pulled me close, trying to force some of your warmth into my body. For a moment I was completely shocked and stiff. Then I melted into your body and laid my head against your shoulder. I sighed, utterly content. For now, this had to be enough. It had to be, until I can find the strength to tell you…
