Sophia De Ruyver
(b. 1849)
As written in the chapter about Pieter Joseph De Ruyver (1787-1853), he
and his wife, Natalie Troncquo, got 5 children in Zegelsem, of which one
died as a child. The four other children married and got children of their
own. Here below, an overview of the descendants of these four children is
given on the basis of a study done in 1985. In that year, a family reunion
of all these descendants was held in the village of Nederbrakel, part of
the Municipality of Brakel. The situation described here below is the
situation of the descendants in 1985.
Sophia was born on October 31, 1849, around 11 a.m. in Zegelsem
as youngest child of Pieter Joseph De Ruyver and Natalie Troncquo (1). Sophia De Ruyver married Louis
Assez, and got 9 children who probably were all born in Zegelsem (2):
Maria Assez was born on March 25, 1874. She became mother of a
daughter. She married the widower Elebaut, who had already some
children from a former marriage. Maria's daughter married a son from
Elebaut's first marriage. Maria Assez died in July 1962. By 1985, she had
5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
August Assez was born in 1876 in Zegelsem. He married a certain
Maria Constantia on May 5, 1907, in Zegelsem. The couple got a
daughter and a son, who on their turn got descendants. By 1985, August and
Maria Constantia had 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. August
died at the age of 45 in Laon on July 6, 1921, and his wife Maria
Constantia passed away around 1917.
Adelaide Assez, born in 1877 or 1878, became mother of a
daughter, who continued the lineage.
Ursmaar Assez was born on August 27, 1880, and died on May 23,
1961, in Opbrakel without having been married.
Richard Assez was born on May 24, 1883, and died on June 24,
1962, in Opbrakel without having been married.
Frans Assez was born on October 10, 1885. He married Maria
Alberta Van Der Donckt in Zegelsem on June 20, 1917. Maria Alberta was
born on September 21, 1891. They raised a son and a daughter, and got 4
grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren by 1985. Frans Assez died,
however, on January 11, 1935 in Zegelsem. His widow remarried with Cyriel
Coppens.
(Xaviera) Valentina Assez was born on September 26, 1888. On
September 21, 1922, she married Cyrille Goeffers, who was in born
in Zegelsem on May 1, 1889. They raised one daughter and one son, who gave
them 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren by 1985. Valentine Assez
died at the age of 83 in Brakel on October 3, 1971, while her husband
Cyrille Goeffers passed away at the age of 85 in the City of Oudenaarde,
on September 2, 1974.
Victor Assez was born on October 21, 1890. He married Maria De
Vos, who was born on November 27, 1895 in Zegelsem. Victor was farmer. He
died at the age of 84 in the City of Oudenaarde, on May 5, 1975. Maria De
Vos died on January 28, 1981 in Zegelsem. Victor and Maria did not get any
children.
(Ursmarus) Alfons Assez was born on December 30, 1893, and
married Theresia (Ludovica) Elebaut on July 20, 1933 in Zegelsem. Theresia
was born on April 13, 1901 in Zegelsem. They got one son, who gave them 3
grandchildren. Theresia died on October 28, 1977 in Oudenaarde. Alfons
passed away at the age of 90 on June 22, 1984 in Brakel.
